FTC has issued a further reimbursement round to Fortnite player. This action is derived from the settlement of $ 245 million made by Epic Games in 2022, following accusations that the company used “misleading practice” to attract unwanted purchases from consumers. The first round of repayments came in December 2024, and it included 629 344 individual payments to Fortnite Players who claimed compensation.
When FTC originally announced this refund to Fortnite Players, it made a statement on the reasons for this decision. One of the most important issues that led to this settlement was what FTC described as an “opposite, inconsistent and confusing button configuration” that encouraged unintentional purchases. The average payment issued during the first repayment was $ 114, and it is probably the figure that applicants should also expect in this round.

Fortnite distributes repayments to players who bought a certain article from the store, with the one in the game intended to be exclusive to Battle Pass.
In its latest announcement, FTC explained that it has issued approximately $ 126 million in the second repayment round to Fortnite Players on June 25 and June 26. In combination with the first round of repayment, the FTC has now sent a total of $ 198 million to players who submitted a claim. This leaves approximately $ 47 million left in settlement, and the process of submitting a repayment requirement from Fortnite has been officially reopened. Players who are eligible will now have until July 9 to visit ftc.gov/fortnite and claim to receive a refund. For those who do not remember there are three ways to qualify for Fortnite FTC refund.
FTC opens repayment of Fortnite
The only provision for players eligible for this refund is that payments via PayPal must be accepted within 30 days, while payments made via check must be cash within 90 days. The original statement from FTC was that Epic Games had violated Coppa when the company collected underage personal data. The second complaint was focused on unwanted purchases caused by confusing button mapping, and this seems to be the focus of these repayments.
Part of the FTC settlement was also required Fortnite To gain positive consent before making any fees, ensure fewer incorrect purchases. Another provision required EPIC games to stop locking players from their accounts over disputed fees. Of course, FTC received more than just a repayment from the company, and these changes are also important. That said, this is far from the first time that Epic Games has had to issue repayments for one reason or another, so it remains to be seen if the company will eventually fix these problems.
