This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen series.
It goes without saying that 2025 was the year of Demon Slayer when it comes to anime dominance. Demon Slayer saw the premiere of its biggest movie to date, titled Infinity Castle Part 1. Fans know very well that Infinity Castle went on to exceed all expectations and deliver what was an unforgettable experience for all anime fans. At the same time, it set incredibly high demands on the films to come. Demon Slayer also continued to further establish its dominance when it comes to anime movies. Mugen Train was already huge for Demon Slayer and it set records that seem almost untouched. But with Infinity Castle, this pristine aura of Demon Slayer continues to grow even further.
Demon Slayer will officially kill anime forever
The Demon Slayer movies are a huge hit, but they're ruining the anime.
That said, Demon Slayer is not unbeatable and there are other new anime series that can continue to compete with it when it comes to big movies. At this point, there is only one true competitor to the Demon Slayer who may go on to steal its throne eventually, and that is Jujutsu Kaisen. Jujutsu Kaisen potentially planning for a massive Gojo vs Sukuna movieand fans know this battle can go on and surpass anything they've ever seen before.

Gojo Vs Sukuna Movie May Come After JJK Season 3
Demon Slayer's popularity cannot be underestimated. Before it even got an anime, Demon Slayer was absolutely huge in Japan. Its anime adaptation by Studio Ufotable made it even bigger and better. After the release of Mugen Train, Demon Slayer became bigger than ever before, and to this day holds the record for the most manga sales per volume in the history of manga itself, showing that it is absolutely huge worldwide.
The Mugen Train was huge, though Infinity Castle set a whole new standard and raised Demon Slayer's popularity to a whole new level. Demon Slayer's popularity cannot be underestimated at this point. But it would also be disingenuous to say it can't compete with any series. If there's a new shounen series that can compete with it, it's Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen has a very successful film of his own i.e. JJK0. Although this film is nowhere near being the highest grossing film at the box office, it must be remembered that it is really a prequel film with a completely different main character and a supporting cast that does not take the role of the main characters in the manga itself. Even so, this film did incredibly well both in Japan and worldwide. A real Jujutsu Kaisen movie that would feature actual events from the anime would be absolutely huge.
The Jujutsu Kaisen movie is coming very soon for Demon Slayer's record
If Jujutsu Kaisen gets a canon movie instead of a new season after the conclusion of season 3, then it really has a chance to compete with even Demon Slayer and beat its record. It must be remembered that the greatest fight in modern shonen belongs to the Jujutsu Kaisen and that this fight will shake the whole world.
The fans are very well aware of that Gojo vs Sukuna is coming in JJK's future. While it could simply be an anime season, and fans would absolutely love it if it were, it's also widely accepted in the community that Gojo vs Sukuna is an experience that belongs on the big screen.
Even when he performs curse gestures, his hands remain unbound, and even when he chants his curse, his heart and lungs remain unburdened. Sukuna's extra arms and hands give her a huge advantage over other wizards. His physical form may be severely deformed, but that does not hinder him in any way. — Narrator at Ryomen Sukuna
Demon Slayer: All Sun Breathing Techniques, Explained
Of all the breathing techniques in Demon Slayer, Sun Breathing is one of the most impressive. Here are all the moves it allows its users to make.
A theatrical premiere of this fight would rock the world and it would give fans what could potentially be the biggest anime fight of the last decade or so. It goes without saying Demon Slayer's record is impressive to this day, but they could be beaten for a Gojo vs Sukuna movie.
Considering JJK's popularity and the fact that this fight has a huge significance not only to the series but to anime fights in general, this movie would certainly have the potential to break all the records set by any Demon Slayer movie ever.
The Gojo Vs Sukuna movie is the only true competitor to Demon Slayer
At this point, it's a given that Demon Slayer is nearly unbeatable when it comes to anime movies, but it's also important to acknowledge that other series have incredible potential as well. This is especially true for Jujutsu Kaisen, who will give fans the biggest fight one way or another soon enough.
To be clear, JJK doesn't need a massive movie to convince fans that it contains the best fighting of all modern shonen anime. The hype that Gojo vs Sukuna has cannot be matched by any other battle. However, if the studio wants to do true justice to this monumental battle, then the theatrical release would be absolutely perfect, and if that were to happen, then Demon Slayer's record is well and truly in jeopardy.
