Marvel -Rivals have been dropping players for a while, which is something that happens to most games as time goes by and the public's attention begins to vacate. But Marvel -Rivals have seen his player base sink quickly since Season 1 started in January, from over 640,000 players on Steam at its peak, to about 130,000 players before the launch of season 2.5 less than five months later.

There is always a bolt when a new season of a live service game starts, and because of how exhausting and annoying dive methane was in season 2, we were expected to see a great influx of players come back to check out the new things like Ultron and Jeff Rework. Unfortunately, it does not seem to have happened, as the figures have increased slightly, this season's player bolt is the smallest so far.

For example, the start of season 1.5 saw a jump of over 117,000 plyers, while TE -start season 2 saw Marvel's gaming number almost double and went from 170,000 to 315,000.

Season 2.5's bolt is much less impressive, only sees an increase of just less than 60,000. It is still a fairly impressive number of players for a live service game, but it is a sign that Netase both struggles to keep players and fight to get them to return.

This relatively small number of returning players are starting to make the more dedicated Marvel rivals fans worry, and discussions had on social media about the cause of the small bolt for season 2.5. In a Reddit thread published by a user named MonkeyCube, many people seem to think that it is the error in the game's matchmaking, with a user named SJMR24 who claims that one-sided matches “kill the game”.

Another theory is that it is the rapidly changing metas that form each update, which will become even more common when Netase begins to release a new character every month. It can be exhausting for a causal player to try to keep up with a meta for a season, just to find it has changed completely in the next season when the next game. Going from a dive meta to an airplane is about as scrubbing as you can get.

Then you have less complaints such as balance changes, toxicity among the player base and the likelihood that you will be rolled in fast games because all broken heroes are fair play. Marvel rivals seem to flounder right now, and it seems that Netease does not do much to address the issues that most people have.
