How Marvel Rivals' destructible environments bring out the power of its heroes
One of Marvel Rival's unique features in the hero shooter genre is its destructible environments, which amplify the power of the heroes.
Marvel Rivals skins are already piling up
Many skins in Marvel Rivals are simply available in the Shop for blue coins called Units. These units can be purchased with Lattice, Marvel Rivalspremium currency that costs money in real life. Other skins are available through the game's battle passes, redemption codes, Achievement Points, and Twitch Drops.
Some skins are exclusively available for certain consoles or subscribers. For example, players can get Spider-Man's “Scarlet Spider” costume for free via the PlayStation Store if they own a PS5, and Peni Parker's “VEN#m” skin for free via the PlayStation Store if they are PlayStation Plus subscribers.
With Marvel Rivals by promoting these skins and adding more to the game, it makes sense that the game has implemented new skins that players can earn for free. But while these new free skins are definitely something for players to be excited about, the Golden Moonlight skin for Moon Knight in particular has a high barrier to entry: the ranked competitive ladder.
Gold tournament players receive Moon Knight's golden moonlight skin
Moon Knights addition to Marvel Rivals leaked before it was announced. The character exists in a kind of liminal space between niche and popular, as the character has been given his own live action limited series on Disney Plus. As a character in Marvel RivalsMoon Knight is a duelist that can unleash a devastating amount of AOE damage if not contained. As the character begins to cement himself as one of the best characters in Marvel Rivals', players will surely want to spice up their gameplay with a Moon Knight skin.
Marvel Rivals competitive mode
To promote Marvel RivalsIn the competitive mode, the game announced that players who achieve Gold Rank will unlock the Golden Moonlight skin for Moon Knight. It appears that no specific level of Gold Rank is necessary for players to achieve in order to unlock the skin; just hitting Gold 3 will be enough to unlock this new skin.
For competitive players, this new skin looks like a great addition. However, players who want to unlock Golden Moonlight must first reach level 10 to unlock competitive play. Also, it is unclear if Golden Moonlight will only be available in Season 0 of Marvel Rivals or if this skin will be unlockable by reaching Gold Rank in future seasons.
