Things are not so big at Bungie right now. Destiny 2 fans are not drawn as much as they were, and the latest enlargements have shown that the number of players has dropped. But things are much worse for their upcoming game, Marathon. After a failure related to plagiarized assets, the game was delayed indefinitely, with Sony who kept a closer eye on Devs.
After almost four months, it seems that the game has returned to a state where Bungie and Sony are happy to share it with the public. To that extent, a closed technical test has been announced from October 22 to October 27, 2025. This will be a limited, inviting test for North America and Europe, which will be under an NDA. You can register for this.
Marathon gets a closed beta test
It is understandable why Bungie is so careful about this test. The revelation did not really blow away any, and Sony was already on edge with the huge failure in Concord. The controversy and subsequent delays caused the fans to believe that the project would be completely interrupted, but Sony made sure it would not make the same mistake as Concord.
“We have reviewed our processes in light of this to deeply understand how and why [Concord] It was not possible to meet expectations and make sure we will not make the same mistake again, “said Sie CEO Hermen Hulst at that time.” For Marathon, it is our goal to release a very bold, very innovative and deeply engaging title. It will be the first new Bungie title in over a decade. So we are really happy for that edition. We monitor, we go through the test cycles. “
He also revealed that Sony will investigate the work that Bungie has done on a marathon at every stage, and you can bet that this closed beta and the feedback will be monitored from the top. Not only that, you will not be able to share videos or your thoughts about beta outside due to NDA.
