Lollipop engine saw will soon have “several new projects” in development

After being released in 2012, Lollipop Chainsaw gathered quite culture. The Hyper-violent action game, with a cheerleading header named Juliet Starling, was created by legendary developer SUDA51 and James Gunn, head of Guardians of the Galaxy and New Co-Cee for DC Studios. While the game originally got Middling Reviews, and made a 70 on Metacritic, sold it over a million copies and got a remaster, Lollipop Chainsaw: Repop, which was released at the end of last year.

Lollipop chainsaw repop: 10 biggest differences from the original

The new Lollipop motor saw is not a new recording or a simple remaster with better graphics. It actually changes many elements from the original title.

Unfortunately, Repop failed to meet the fans' high expectations, with some who go as far as to say it “fails as a remaster in all aspects.” Critics felt the same thing, with the game landed on a “weak” 64 on Opencritic and a 68 on Metacritic.

Seemingly, this reception has not deterred the owner of IP, Dragami Games, from entering, as it has just signed a new partnership agreement to “jointly develop several new projects related to Lollipop Chainsaw”.

In a new announcement, the Repop creators Dragami Games revealed that it would cooperate with Taiwanese IP Investment and Development Company, Nada Holdings, to expand the beloved IP.

The statement says: “Dragami Games will start new IP development for Lollipop Chainsaw and will work with Nada Holdings to promote new diversified development and collaboration projects with other industries.

“Nada Holdings has a long track record of leading investment and development projects in anime and gaming IP, as well as high knowledge and resources in cross-media development of IP. We believe that the company's passion for IP will work constructively in the new development of Lollipop Chainsaw and has formed a strong partner.” “

Nada Holdings, who claims to be big fans of Lollipop Chainsaw, says it will “continue to care for the spirit of the original and work hard to meet our fans' expectations.”

When reading between the lines in the statement, it seems that Lollipop engine saw will go cross-media, with both video game projects together with anime or TV programs planned as part of this collaboration.

On its site, Nada Holdings Crunchroll, Netflix, Hulu and Toei list lists as some of its partners, along with such as Sega and Dena, from the gaming industry. The company also has five times Emmy-nominated director and producer, Takafumi Yuki, as part of its staff. Yuki is known for her work on similar a dragon: Yakuza series on Amazon Prime Video and Tanabata No Kuni, among other projects.

Although there really were some expectations, after the publication and reception of Lollipop Chainsaw: Repop, that it would be the end of IP, it seems that it is anything but, with Dragami games that have great ambitions in the future.
