Lies of P Studio teases its next game

Neowiz and Round 8 Studios, the companies behind the popular Pinocchio-inspired soulslike Lies by Phave announced that they are working on a sci-fi survival horror project. Additionally, the developers have confirmed that Lies by P The DLC will be released in the first quarter of 2025.

Originally released in September 2023, Lies by P received immediate praise from critics and gamers alike for its visuals, unique world, and Blood borne-inspired gameplay. The game sold over 1 million copies in its first month and has an average score of 82 on OpenCritic, with Round 8 Studio currently hard at work on DLC content and a sequel. While little is known about the second game, more information is now emerging about the studio's other projects, and it looks like fans won't have to wait much longer for more content.

According to Neowiz, Round 8 Studio is currently working on a new survival horror game set in a sci-fi world. Little is known about the new IP, but it will be coming to both PC and console in the future and will be powered by Unreal Engine 5. While eager fans await more news regarding this mysterious project, the company also revealed that the long-awaited DLC for Lies by P will be released in the first quarter of 2025. In September, director Jiwon Choi teased more about the first Lies by P expansion, releases a haunting new song and concept art depicting the main character standing in a snowy landscape with a lighthouse in the distance. “For DLC of Lies by P and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve on areas where we have room to grow,” said Choi. “It may sound simple, but I think sticking to the basics is anything but easy. Thankfully, I have great colleagues I can rely on.”

While the story-heavy Souls has been selling incredibly well, the report also shows that Neowiz has seen a 68% drop in operating profit as it saw no major releases in 2024. Around when Lies by P was released, the company's share price was hovering around $37, but this has fallen to $14. Recently, the Korean studio signed a publishing deal with Zakazane, a Polish indie developer founded by former CD Projekt Red developers, to publish its debut title.

Gamers eager to jump back into the studio's beloved Soul-like now have even more reason to do so, as Lies by P has been enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro, allowing the game's Performance mode to run at native 4K resolution and offering a smoother frame rate for those who choose to play in Quality mode. The new console launched with over 50 PS5 Pro Enhanced titles, with thousands of PlayStation 4 titles also seeing enhancements.
