Depending on the era you grew up in, you may have a different view of LEGO, but we all have a memory of the brick-building brand. Whether it was the elaborate sets that paid homage to popular IPs or making your own creations out of stray pieces, LEGO has become a continued source of entertainment regardless of your age, and a hobby that can get quite expensive. And things are only going to get worse for gamers, because LEGO has something big planned for 2026.
There have already been some pretty incredible LEGO sets released for gamers over the past few years, from the LEGO Game Boy to the many Fortnite sets. LEGO even created an interactive series of Mario sets that let you collect coins while exploring different environments. Minecraft has been a huge hit for LEGO, with sets themed after both the game and the movie. But my personal favorite of all the LEGO playsets released so far is LEGO The Legend of Zelda Deku Tree set. And in 2026, LEGO has another set planned that should be even more exciting.
LEGO will release a second Legend of Zelda set in 2026
LEGO recently teased LEGO The Legend of Zelda set with a short video with some pretty telling details. While LEGO is keeping official details under wraps, we can speculate what the set entails based on that video.
First of all, we know that LEGO The Legend of Zelda set will arrive in 2026, but exactly when is unclear. Typically, the timing of a LEGO announcement can be anywhere from right before release to almost a full year in advance. That LEGO Game Boy, for example, was first teased in January and wasn't released until October. So, while fans hope that LEGO The Legend of Zelda set will be released in early 2026, there is no guarantee that it will come. Similar to the Game Boy set, we might be looking at first this tease, then a full reveal much later, before a full launch a few months after that.
As far as the content of LEGO The Legend of Zelda the set shows the video Link with Navi hovering above him and a shadowy figure approaching. Based on the design of his tunic, Master Sword, and Hylian shield, the assumption is that this is Link from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Timewhich feels like a safe guess given that game's popularity.
You can also make out Zelda in the background, but she's out of focus, and it's hard to make out any details from her design. It looks like a grown-up Zelda from Ocarina of Time, based on the silhouette.
That shadow is key though as it hints that this LEGO Legend of Zelda set will feature Ganondorf in some form. The size of the shadow, and assuming this will be a complex LEGO set, suggests that it will be Ganon in his final form from Ocarina of Time, but it could also be Ganon in his familiar Gerudo form.
Anyway, the diorama-like nature of the scene has me very excited about what this LEGO The Legend of Zelda set could be and this is sure to be one of the hot ticket items for the brand in 2026. But if it's anything like the first The Legend of Zelda LEGO sets, fans will want to start saving their money now. The Deku Tree LEGO set released last year is still selling for $299.
However, it is an incredible LEGO set with the option to build either the Deku Tree diorama from Ocarina of time or Breath of the Wild. Based on the scene you want to create, there is another Link minifigure (two for OoT) and a Zelda figure for the BotW look. Even the Deku tree takes on a unique look based on which version you want to create. It's certainly an impressive LEGO set, and one that set the tone for this latest partnership between Nintendo and the brick-building brand.
With the complex, expensive set box ticked off, there is potential for this second Legend of Zelda LEGO set to come in at a lower and more affordable price. But LEGO sets these days are rarely what you'd call cheap, and when they're aimed at older collectors, the price is usually higher. Although it's just a Link minifig, a Zelda minifig and then the beast Ganon which can be quite an expensive set. No doubt LEGO would put a lot of detail and pieces into Ganon, but for comparison, the soon-to-be-retired LEGO Bowser set cost $269.99.
Anyway, LEGO has my attention for 2026, and this is my most anticipated set of the year. I thought the Deku Tree set might be a one-off deal, but I'm happy to see Nintendo and LEGO planning more collaborations, even if my wallet isn't.
