Back in 2019 released developer Light Brick Studio Lego Builder's JourneyA happy puzzle game with some unexpectedly beautiful graphics. I played first Builder's Journey When it came to Nintendo Switch 2021, and I immediately fell in love with the game's relaxing atmosphere, delightful puzzle and its heartwarming history. Of course i was pretty excited for Lego Voyagers.
A kind of spiritual successor to Builder's JourneyLight Brick Studio's Lego Voyagers Delivers another surprisingly emotional journey filled with fun braintes, and this time the whole adventure can be enjoyed in two-players co-op. In many ways, Lego Voyagers feels like the ideal development of Builder's JourneyFormula and the perfect enclosure of what Lego is all about.
Lego Voyagers understand the magic behind a simple design toy
Lego Voyagers Tells the story of two anthropomorphic Lego tile stones that witness a rocket crash and went to investigate. I don't want to ruin anything with Lego Voyagers“Story, because the subtle development of its plot is one of the game's strongest elements. But much as Builder's JourneyThe Traveler“The story is easy to digest for younger audiences while boasting lots of emotional subtitles that hit especially hard for older players, and it gives a tear-printing gut in its closing moments that I will think about for many years to come.
That is a rather impressive achievement given Lego Voyagers Uses (mostly) faceless construction toys and no dialogue to deliver their story. And it is even more impressive considering how much freedom players are given during the adventure.
Lego voyagers put creativity and freedom at the forefront
Physics -based game takes center in Lego VoyagersRun all three of the title's nuclear players. Players control their LEGO tile when it naturally rolls over the game's environments, all of which have been designed with the help of real Lego pieces, and they will often be asked to engage in light platform using these physics-based mechanics.
While platforms have the potential to become frustrating given the realism of the system, Lego Voyagers SidestEps This problem completely with its SNAP system, whereby players can press a button and become directly attached to the nearest available student, which saves them from beating a surface cumbersome and tumbling to their downfall after a bent jump. I can imagine that this SNAP mechanic will be a lifeguard for those who play with younger players.
This Snap mechanic also becomes an essential part of Lego Voyagers'Building system. Throughout Lego VoyagersDuos will be commissioned to create a structure to cross a clover or reach an area of higher altitude. To do this, players have to manually pick up Lego tile stones dotted around the environment and place them on top of each other using the SNAP system to attach the brick to a specific stud. Platform and building are often used in conjunction with producing engaging environmental halves, Lego Voyagers“Third and most integrated gameplay pillar.
However, instead of forcing players to create specific structures or jumping along a specific path to solve a puzzle, Lego Voyagers Gifts co-op collaborates with a variety of bricks and allows them to solve the puzzle but they look appropriate. When paired with the game's physics -based mechanics, this abundance of the possibility grows exponentially. While it can lead to many of Lego Voyagers“Puzzle that feels a little too simple, the satisfaction of solving the puzzle is still very intact, as players have falsified their own unique solution using the tools at their disposal.
This wealth of player prejudice and the game's seamless co-op allows Lego Voyagers To capture the creativity and collaboration that Lego puts at the forefront of its brand. These properties are further strengthened during a very special sequence where players have the task of adapting a vehicle by taking pieces from a conveyor belt, painting them and manually placing them on the module.
Although this sequence is short, it captures the universal feeling of buttocking in a large box of legos trying to find the perfect piece. In addition to highlighting the game's passion for creativity and collaboration, moments like this are likely to elicit a strong and lasting sense of nostalgia in players.
Lego Voyagers want you to stop and smell plastic roses
From beginning to end, Lego Voyagers Feels like a long warm hug, and its presentation cement as every turn. A lot like Builder's Journey before that, Lego Voyagers Is a really beautiful video game, which has some incredibly impressive lighting systems that give the whole game a very cozy vibe.
Sound design is also a core force of Lego Voyagers. Although the game's music is pleasant and peaceful, it is used sparingly, which allows Traveler“Sound effects to take the limelight. Every second of Lego Voyagers is filled with the satisfactory clicks and heels of lego-tile stones that merge and fall on top of each other, and the high, jawa-like votes from the player-controlled bricks are always completely adorable.
It should also be said that Lego Voyagers Drove like a dream on my base model PS5. The presentation remained consistently high throughout, and there were no technical deficiencies to report apart from a much less moment of difficult movement of movement during a very short sequence.
My only big grip with Lego Voyagers is that it is a very short trip, and unfortunately not a very replayable one. Lego Voyagers Can be ready in just 3-4 hours, and while the inherent freedom contained in their puzzles can encourage some to go back and try alternative solutions, there are no concrete rewards in the game to return after the credit. There is no side content at all in Lego VoyagersAnd no collectibles to find hidden in its beautifully rendered environments.
Although there is no proper side content in Lego VoyagersPlayers are still encouraged to interact and play with everything in the environment, as they will often be rewarded with Playstation trophies/performance to do so.
Lego Voyagers Is an incredibly wonderful, charming game with a strong emotional core and engaging game. The freedom that its physics-based mechanics allows can lead to some puzzles feeling a little too easy for older target groups, and its lack of side content can make it a little short 3-4 hour driving time sting a little. But despite that, Lego Voyagers is an adventure that will have players of all ages flirting from ear to ear, from beginning to end.
