Legacy of the Dark Knight is an Arkham follower in all except names

Gamescom Opening Night Live returned this year with a fleshy 2-hour presentation. While it was a pretty strong show this year, one of Gamescom Onl's earliest announcements stole the show for many: Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

TT Games next large-scale Lego project after Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagareleased in 2022, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Looks to be the ultimate celebration of Caped Crusader's 85-year-long history, with its 2-minute revealing trailer pack in an impressive suite with references to the past Batman Movies, shows, series and video games. But by far Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark KnightSource of inspiration seems to be Rocksteadys Batman: Arkham Series, with the upcoming DC game that practically looks like a new post in the series.

Although fans only got a short teasing of it during the game's revealing trailer, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark KnightS battle looks like it follows in Batman: ArkhamFootprints very close. The Minifig version of Batman is shown cards that jump through the air, stop to deliver a quick hand-to-hand combination to a goon, turn on a penny and then jump towards a new goal, all in a very similar way as Batman: ArkhamFreeflow fight.

The feature films that were shown behind Geoff Keighley and TT Games Manager of Development Jonathan Smith under Gamescom Onl teased a little more of this Arkham– -like battle system in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Batman was shown to counteract enemies, carry out removals and vault over enemies. Smith also mentioned that players will be able to use batarangs to stunning enemies and batclaw to roll them in. The trailer also showed Batman with an explosive gel gel outside the battle, and its appearance looks like a direct reference to Rocksteady's Batman: the Arkham series.
