A picture of what could be The Sims 4s remasters have appeared on social media and mixed feelings have flared up in the community. The Sims 4 was released in September 2014 and over the past decade a series of DLC packs have been released to keep it fresh and ensure players never run out of new things to do. In fact, it's been estimated that if fans would have purchased each pack at full price, they would have spent over $1,500 to get their hands on every expansion pack, game pack, gadget pack, and kit available.
Not so long ago, rumors began to circulate around the community that the release of the final Sims 4 expansion pack was imminent. Players speculated that it would be similar The Sims Medieval and has a royalty theme. But since Project Renee was scrapped, players were also unsure of what this meant for the future Sims game development. At the end of 2025 there is talk of an alleged Sims 4 remasters became more common as information about “Project X” surfaced.
Sims 4 fans point out features the game still needs after 11 years
Fans of The Sims 4 love the game, but many share their thoughts on what is still missing from the game after all these years.
Sims Community, a famous Sims 4 news source, has received an email with an attachment showing what appears to be a promotional image for Project X. The image shows four Sims characters with a similar aesthetic to those in The Sims 4, but the detail has been taken up a notch, giving it a more polished look, which would make perfect sense if Project X is a remaster like many believe it to be. Among the characters are the iconic Sims plumbob and the slogan “Create beyond borders.” According to the Sims Community, the attachment was titled “TSX_MATERIAL_SIMS_EXPLORATORY,” which could mean it's part of a potential demo for players to try out.
Most fans are still unsure how they feel about the release of a remastered version of The Sims 4but overall morale seems to have increased when this picture was released. Many fans in the comments section of the Sims Community tweet announcing their latest blog post seemed pleased with what they saw. They remarked how fond they were of it The Sims 4s style and that they were happy to see that the team wasn't aiming to go in a different direction. However, there were still some negative comments, as players feel that it is far too similar The Sims 4. Most players don't want to pay for a game they already own. Also, many believe it hasn't aged enough to warrant a remaster. The Sims 4 is still getting updates and new content, and it hasn't been long since the latest DLCs came out, so players are still exploring some of its latest features.
When is more Sims 4 news expected to come out?
-
According to EA, January 2026
Thinking about a potential remaster makes one ask how many packs would be included in the base game and what would be the base price of the remaster. It would be weird to go back to square one and play without expansion packs, but since there are over $1,000 in EPs, would any be included, or would players be expected to pay for them again? The Sims 2 Legacy Collection included most expansion packs, but they were already unavailable and it had been almost 20 years The Sims 2 received its final DLC pack. EA would have to think a lot about this issue to make it work. Fans who have already spent hundreds of dollars on the game will most likely not be inclined to spend money on the same content.
