Larian owns Divinity's leaked trademark by displaying it

Divinity was one of the biggest reveals from last night's The Game Awards event. Larian Studios was ready for the announcement and kept us guessing with that statue in the desert. Unfortunately, the surprise didn't hit as hard as the developer would have liked, as trademark registration leaks revealed that the statue was indeed teasing a new Divinity game.

However, Larian has never been one to shy away from the community, given that it won the Best Community Support Award. So the studio decided to make the trademark registration, which ruined the surprise, its banner image on Twitter. Sure, their big surprise was ruined, but that's one way to roll with the punches.

That statue kept us all guessing, with everything from Half-Life 3 to Elder Scrolls 6 being speculated. The trademark registration clearly revealed the design that was on the statue, with Divinity attached to it. We now know how the statue came to be, thanks to the game's terrible trailer, and Larian's head of publishing, Michael Douse, gave us some information about it as well.

Larian Studios Announces New Divinity Game, “Larger Than Baldur's Gate 3”

The talented developers behind Baldur's Gate 3 are back with a brand new Divinity game.

“It's called Hellstone,” he revealed in a tweet. “We're all separating more and more from the physical, so we wanted to build a monument for not only our international teams to rally around, but for the rest of the gaming community to rally around. We wanted people to get excited about the next big game on their bucket list, and we wanted to do it in a way that used skill and craftsmanship, by hand, to drive people out to see it and talk about it.”

Unfortunately, we still don't know what the Hellstone is and what its role in Divinity will be. But if I had to guess, the bloody corpses being fused together in an unholy fashion could possibly indicate that it's a bad thing. Perhaps. There's also the name, but I don't want to be too presumptuous.

As for the game itself, we know next to nothing. However, there is a small chance that it will start at a beach.
