Kishimoto's own idea of Naruto was very different
In the Shonen jump world, Mangaka often has support in the form of its editors, as well as the jump editors themselves. Although they can be a blessing in many ways, such as helping to draw complex scenes, making background and even providing great ideas to the author, they can also be problematic for Mangaka. Sometimes, especially the new ones, can be forced to draw some plotlines that they are not particularly interested in drawing. Something similar happened to Kishimoto in the early parts of Naruto.
You will draw it even if you die! – Kishimoto's editors on drawing chunin -Tentor
When Kishimoto ended the Waves arch, his idea of history was far from what ended up taking place, that is, the Chunin exam. Kishimoto had no intention to draw the Chunin exam. Instead, he wanted Naruto and his team to travel across the Ninja world and encounter many Shinobi teams. These teams would ideally have Kakashi's rivals, and of course Naruto's very own rivals.

Naruto: Kishimoto reveals that he was forced to pull one of the most popular arches in the story
Kishimoto was forced to draw this very popular story arch in Naruto. It was the right conversation.
Unfortunately, as good as this idea was, it was not accepted by the jump editors. Kishimoto's editor simply told him to draw a tournament instead. The author was pretty sure he could not do such a thing because all planning for it and then implemented a large -scale tournament would kill him. However, the editors showed little or no concern and forced him to draw a tournament style, where the Chunin graduation arc comes from. Kishimoto reminds this and openly stated that he loved to draw the Chunin exam, but if it was up to him, he would still go with his own version of the story.
Since Orochimaru was first introduced in the Chunin Exams -Bågen, this is what he was also created. Of course, fans can assume that Kishimoto had a big hand in the creation of Orochimaru. However, the truth is somewhat very different.
How Kishimoto's editors helped create Orochimaru
Kishimoto's editors suggested a villain called Orochimaru
When the Chunin Exams arc went, Kishimoto carefully enjoyed the process of drawing this tournament, even though he was against it at first. But just as he got ready to finish the tournament and explained his own winner, Kishimoto's editors suggested a plot twist. According to them, this was the perfect opportunity to introduce as Orochimaru to the story.
What is this feeling? Is it fear? I can't move! – Kakashi
In essence, Kishimoto's editors told him to have the Chunin exam interrupted and introduce a villain called Orochimaru. That's exactly what happened, and as the fans know, Konoha Crush started. Orochimaru orchestrated this great attack on Konoha and it led to large -scale destruction. Even the third Hokagen in the village, the hiruzen sarutobia, ended up losing his life here, while those like Naruto Uzumaki had to shine in this battle.
Orochimaru was founded in the meantime as a big villain in the story. Although his plan failed, he continued and put his eyes on Sasuke. From there onwards, fans know that Orochimaru became extremely important in the series' overall plot. In fact, the vast majority of Naruto part 1 revolved around Orochimaru as the main villain, and it goes without saying that he was a fascinating villain.
Unfortunately, Orochimaru was not treated well in Naruto's future, and the years with the installation behind his character arch were not met. Instead, the focus shifted more towards Madara Uchiha and the other Akatsuki members in the second part of Naruto. That said, Orochimarus's influence remains memorable to this day.
