Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo sets up Yuji Itadori's darkest role yet, and fans are freaking out

This article contains spoilers from JJK Modulo manga.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans are having the time of their lives with the premiere of JJK Season 3 and the continued release of new ones JJK Modulo chapter. The series created by Gege Akutami is arguably one of the biggest, if not the most popular, franchise right now, with all the content it continues to release even after the original manga has ended.

Between JJK Season 3 and JJK Modulofans are more concerned about the sequel due to Yuji Itadori's seemingly dark role. Some 62 years have passed, and something has clearly changed within Yuji. Instead of seeing an optimistic Yuji, JJK Modulo continues to establish him as dark and angular with the scar and hood. His new look is cool, but fans are starting to fear him.

Yuji Itadori is dark and edgy in JJK Modulo

  • Yuji Itadori has changed.

  • Yuji Itadori isolated himself.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has been consistent in showing a dark and edgy Yuji Itadori in recent chapters. While the sequel has yet to show Yuji's full face, the combined appeal of his scar and the hoodie on his head make for a disconnected and unapproachable look. Compared to his previous appearance, this darker version of Yuji feels much more hardened and withdrawn.

One of the reasons behind Yuji's drastic change is his ageless state. While his friends and loved ones go through the natural aging process, Yuji remains untouched by time, forever unable to grow old with those he cares about. Worse, Yuji had to attend his friends' funerals one by one, turning grief into a cycle he can never escape unless someone much stronger than him kills him.

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji Itadori In Modulo Left Sorcerers

For someone who has been through so much in his life, the dark change in Yuji is inevitable and understandable at the same time. He didn't change overnight, because he was worn out, one loss at a time. He no longer seeks contact but instead moves forward alone. It also doesn't help that the fate of the world now rests on his shoulders. It's an extra pressure that pushes him further into isolation.

  • Yuji Itadori is the new strongest wizard in JJK.

  • Japan's last line of defense is Yuji Itadori.

As Yuji changes, the world of Jujutsu in JJK Modulo changes with him. As fans know, the wizards of the modern era have become significantly weaker compared to the wizards of the past. Unfortunately, no wizard has reached the same level of power as Gojo Satoru, Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, or even Maki Zenin, to name a few, making the Jujutsu world more vulnerable to Sukuna-level threats.

The decline in the wizard's strength is evident, putting the pressure of saving the world and fighting powerful villains on the only remaining wizard who can stand up to them: Yuji Itadori. Undoubtedly, Yuji is the strongest wizard in JJK Modulo, having faced challenges no other wizard could endure and emerging stronger each time. The Japanese government even trusts him and treats him as the last line of defense.

I will continue killing curses until I rust away because that is my role in this war. – Yuji Itadori

Right now, the world needs Yuji, but the strongest wizard seems unfazed by the presence of Simurians in Japan. Instead of fighting Dabura directly as the Jujutsu Council wants, Yuji remains isolated, almost as if he's tired of his role as the world's protector. It seems he has lost all motivation to fight for others, despite the power he has.

The world may have to survive without Yuji Itadori

The latest chapters of JJK Modulo revolve around Tsurugi and Maru's fight, as well as Dabura and Mahoraga's showdown. There is no Yuji Itadori in sight, but he has appeared in flashbacks, especially in Tsurugi's story, where he met Iori Okkotsu before his disappearance.

Because of this, it is only natural to anticipate Yuji's further absence from JJK Modulo. Perhaps his role is to cast a shadow over history, making his absence as impactful as any battle he could fight. In other words, Yuji doesn't always have to be at the forefront to shape events.
