This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
The era of shinobi has changed drastically in Boruto series, even more so in the new sequel manga, Two Blue Vortex, and this has been made evident by Kishimoto and Ikemoto over the years. But the core values of the shinobi remain the same as ever. The world that exists today was built by mighty ninjas who came a long time ago and etched their names into the history books. One of these legendary ninjas was Minato Namikaze, the fourth Hokage of Konoha who was almost unmatched in his time.
Minato's genius was such that he became one of the youngest Hokage in history, and he was also one of the most powerful ninja of all time. After single-handedly ending the Third Great Ninja War, Minato became a hero both in the village and among the fans. But his likes will most certainly never be seen again, Boruto is slowly preparing its true heir. This new successor to Minato will most likely never be as good a character as him, but he is the closest thing to him since his death. As most fans probably already know, this shinobi is none other than the son of the Seventh Hokage and the protagonist of the series, Boruto Uzumaki.
Boruto Uzumaki is the true successor to the Fourth Hokage
The Fourth Hokage was a legendary ninja who is spoken of with great respect in the ninja world. His skill was absolutely immense, and fans know very well that it is difficult to replicate him or live up to the standard he set, but Boruto Uzumaki seems to be doing it already. Fans know very well that Boruto has mastered the Rasengan, which was already created by Minato Namikaze. He did so at a fairly young age and on top of that he even created his own variations of the technique, such as Rasegan Uzuhiko. This is something Minato himself would be proud of.

But that's really not all. Boruto Uzumaki also took Minato's signature technique and created his own similar, but inferior, Jutsu. As most fans already know, this is the Flying Thunder God Jutsu.
Boruto learned a variation of the Flying Thunder God
To be precise, Boruto's Jutsu isn't exactly the Flying God of Thunder. However, it is a rudimentary variant of the technology that is quite similar. Boruto infuses various metals with his chakra and then imagines their form. Once the chakra is tracked, he can instantly teleport to it. Since it doesn't involve the use of a teleportation seal, the Jutsu is much worse and slower, but it's impressive regardless.

Like Minato, Boruto is a genius
Maybe that does Boruto Uzumaki the perfect successor to the Fourth Hokage is the fact that they are both geniuses. Minato was a true genius. Be it topping the academy, creating his own Jutsu, or countering abilities within seconds, Minato could do it all. Boruto Uzumaki is somewhat similar. He hasn't already mastered multiple nature transformations, mastered Kenjutsu, created his own techniques, and now he's even learning Jutsu from the Fourth Hokage.
Obviously, Boruto is an incredibly talented genius. The best part is that he has yet to peak, which means he will continue to grow. Of all the geniuses that exist in Boruto's world, it goes without saying Boruto Uzumaki is the best of them all. He has certainly earned the honor of being called Minato's successorand fans know he will continue to be for years to come.
