It's official, Boruto's Powerscaling is completely broken

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Boruto: The Two Blue Vortex moves at breakneck speed and new battles unfold with each passing chapter. Fans are really loving the battle that has been illustrated by the author for the past two years, and the newest arc focusing on Shinju and Boruto Uzumaki is incredibly exciting right now. As Mamushi's attack on Konoha grew more serious, fans knew they would have some very exciting battles to look forward to in this story. In fact, Mamushi's fight against Boruto Uzumaki has already been highlighted quite a bit so far.

Naruto Uzumaki returns stronger than ever in Boruto. Fans can't wait for his return to the game.

Boruto Uzumaki has taken down some of his clones, and more are coming. Interestingly enough, Boruto was attacked by fans in the last chapter, and rightfully so. For all series, powerscaling is a pretty important thing that the author has to pay special attention to when it comes to shonen. For Boruto, this concept is completely broken, and it is especially clear in the last chapter, where some of the weakest characters have somehow managed to defeat some of the strongest.

  • Shinju are the strongest fighters in the Boruto series

  • Otsutsuki continues to be a major threat

The Boruto series has done incredibly well to introduce many massive monsters into the story. When the series began, the likes of Momoshiki Otsutsuki and his kin were introduced to fans. Later down the line, the Inners of Kara were introduced to the story, each of them posing a significant threat to Boruto Uzumaki as well as the ninja world in general. Over time, more of these monsters appeared in the story and they have steadily grown stronger ever since.

Currently, the greatest threat facing the ninja world comes in the form of the Shinju, which are monsters born from the Tentails thanks to the power of the code. Shinju are known to be incredibly powerful. When they first debuted in the story, it was pretty clear for fans to see that their abilities were on a completely different level compared to the vast majority of characters. Even Code, who at the time had his powers fully unlocked after his encounter with Amado, fought in battle against Shinju. Boruto Uzumaki, who had been training at this point with Sasuke Uchiha and later with Kashin Koji, also struggled to handle Shinju.

The story made it pretty clear at this point that Shinju was on a completely different level compared to the vast majority of threats the Boruto series had seen. That is why their threat was considered as great as it was. Every single Shinju was canonically stated to be stronger than the average Otsutsuki, and that's what made them truly special. Yet, in the future chapters of the Boruto manga, it seems that this special factor has now been removed from them. For some reason, Shinju is matched by normal shinobi who shouldn't be able to reach that level of strength at all. At the moment, the power scaling of Boruto makes no sense at all.

  • Boruto has broken Powerscaling completely

When the ordeal with Shinju began, fans were quite confused as to how any normal shinobi could match the power of the Shinju. At the time, fans didn't pay much attention to it. But over time it's become increasingly clear that the author doesn't care about proper power scaling, or is very bad at it. For example, when the Sand Village arc took place, for some reason, Boruto Uzumaki and his teammates fought Shinju first. This was a pretty clear indication from the writer that Shinju was on a completely different level, and this was required at the time since the writer had previously stated that they were Otsutsuki level threats.

I see. You have no hope for a future. You just want to kill me and just disappear from this world as soon as possible. Unless you have a chance at freedom, that is. These divine beings are a threat to both of us. Will you help me or not? — Boruto Uzumaki to Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Boruto: TBV Chapter 29

Naruto and Sasuke are currently sealed away. But eventually they will have their biggest battle in Boruto.

But later down the line, it was quite strange to see it the likes of Araya, Yodo and others could match Shinju in power. Fans thought this was a coincidence, but later even Konohamaru almost managed to kill one of the Shinjuand fans know that Konohamaru isn't even as strong as an average Kage, but he somehow took down someone on the same level as Otsutsuki.

Mamushi broke Boruto's Powerscaling

In the subsequent arc, Ikemoto has done something even crazier. When Mamushi attacked Konoha, it became abundantly clear that he was going to cause all kinds of trouble for the village's shinobi, and this was mostly due to his incredible ninjutsu. Mamushi has the special ability to split himself into multiple clones. But his clones are not just ordinary shadow clones. When using shadow clones, their chakra is shared equally, and their strength is shared as well. This is one of the main disadvantages of using any clone type technology. But for Mamushi this does not apply.

Mamushi's ability is to increase his number as much as he wants. He does not lose strength or chakra when doing this. But there is a downside. The more he splits, the more his intelligence drops as well. – Kashin Koji

This is because Mamushi's power does not split at all when he makes a clone of himself, nor does his chakra reserve. The only thing that drops is his intelligence, which has been made clear in the story repeatedly. This means that when Mamushi cloned himself more than fifty times, his power did not drop even a single bit, and all fifty clones were equal to the Otsutsuki-level power he was introduced with.

  • Chocho is a very weak genin

  • Her powers make no sense

Now, in the latest chapter of Boruto, fans saw minor characters such as Chocho somehow takes down these Otsutsuki-level clones in battle with a simple Expansion jutsuand that makes absolutely no sense. Chocho shouldn't be strong enough to take out Otsutsuki level threats. Of course, it goes without saying that the intelligence of Mamushi's clones has dropped dramatically, but that still doesn't mean they should fall from an Expansion Jutsu that characters from part 1 of Naruto can perform.

Otsutsuki should have much more durability than that, as well as enough strength to kill people even if their intelligence is extremely low. This makes absolutely no sense and has ruined Boruto's powerscaling forever.

Boruto needs a better direction for writing

Boruto needs a better direction for writing

Powerscaling in Boruto hardly made sense to begin with, but in the latest manga chapter it makes even less sense. Fans had assumed that the likes of Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha and many other new generation characters had already surpassed the likes of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasukebut looking at the current state where even Chocho is taking down Otsutsuki level enemies, it's clear that Naruto would absolutely demolish these characters with ease, as well as Sasuke.

This gives fans renewed hope that these characters will be monstrously powerful when they return. But at the same time, it also means that the power scaling in the series is beyond repair at this point, and there's nothing any fan can do about it.
