Japanese JJK fans didn't like Maki beating Naoya Zenin in season 3.

One of the women heavily involved in the story is Maki, the outcast of the Zenin clan. Due to being born with an extremely low amount of cursed energy, Maki could not use any special techniques, nor could she see cursed spirits. Despite his limitations, Maki did not stop training. Instead, she worked doubly hard to improve her physical attributes. However, in the Shibuya arc, it became quite obvious that her strength was not enough to fight the strongest villains in the Jujutsu Kaisen. Thankfully, Gege gave Akutami a much-needed upgrade in the Perfect Preparation arc.

Maki has a sky limit

Before participating in the Culling Game, Maki decided to head to the Zenin Clan's treasury to look for weapons that would help her in the competition. Her arrival was met with the usual jeers, which she ignored, and she went straight into the treasury, where Ogi was waiting. As the father and daughter ventured deeper into the vault, it became clear that Ogi had no intention of handing over any weapons to Maki. Instead, he wanted to kill her, as he blamed his daughters for personal failings.

Ogi attacked and wounded Maki, which was exactly what he had done to Mai. Satisfied with the result, Ogi started walking towards the exit. However, he had no idea that Maki would return to slaughter him. After Mai sacrificed herself, Maki was freed from all cursed energy, allowing her to fulfill the requirement of Heavenly Limitation: Physically Gifted to the fullest. This greatly increased her physical abilities and allowed her to easily beat Ogi.

Maki's next move was to slaughter any remaining members of the Zenin who dared stand in her way. This included Hei's killer as well as Naoya Zenin. Everyone who witnessed her strength immediately realized that Maki had become as strong as Toji Fushiguro. But the question is, is the current version of Maki Zenin stronger than Toji Fushiguro?

As it stands, it's safe to say so Toji is slightly stronger than Maki. The latter just got the new power, so she hasn't had a chance to show off what she's capable of. Also, it wouldn't be fair to Toji if Maki's strength was measured by what she did to the Zenin clan members. Toji Fushiguro's resume is much more impressive than Maki's, but that doesn't mean she won't be able to catch up to him. All Maki needs is more time to show her strength and hone her skills, after which she will surely surpass Toji Fushiguro. Fortunately, Maki will have the opportunity to do so in the Culling Game, which is packed with powerful fighters.

As fans already know, once the Perfect Preparation arc is over, the anime will move to the Culling Game arc. Tengen has already explained how Kenjaku plans to use the competition to forcibly evolve humanity. After learning of the villain's intentions, Yuji and his friends realize they have little time left and must work quickly to stop Kenjaku and put an end to his plans. Obviously, Yuji won't be able to complete all the tasks on his own, so he has to rely on his allies, one of which is Maki.

She's already acquired new weapons and left the Zenin clan, so it's clear she's heading to one of the colonies to participate in the Culling Game. Maki knows the rules, so she will try to get 100 points as fast as possible to create a rule that will help Tsukimi escape a terrible fate. She will also try to support Yuji in his goal to free Gojo Satoru from the prison kingdom. The wizard was sealed away by Kenjaku during the Shibuya incident, knowing that Gojo would prove to be a major threat to his plans. In any case, Maki will be in the spotlight during the Culling Game, and she will show off her newfound strength.
