I'm already Heartbroken About Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's DLC 3

Well, on the one hand, the release date announcement and reveal of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2s third DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiae, has me hyped. This is not only one of the best games I've played all year, but also one of my favorite games of all time. Needless to say, all the content the game gets, I'm sold on it well in advance. Unfortunately, Mysteria Ecclesiae is a bit of a double-edged sword for me, playing through it when Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 DLC launch on November 11th is definitely going to be one of the most bittersweet gaming experiences I've ever had.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 DLC 3 Mysteria Ecclesiae Release Date

You might think I'm referring to the fact that Mysteria Ecclesiae will be the last DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and that I simply cannot bear to see the game's story end. And if you think there's a possibility of it getting more DLC after this, think again. The announcement trailer for Mysteria Ecclesiae even called it “the final adventure”. However, that is not the end of it Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 it's already left me heartbroken – it's the conclusion of a much bigger story that I'm having a hard time dealing with.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC is set to conclude Henry's story

Yes, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC will wrap up the game's story, but it's also expected to close the book on the protagonist's story as well. What this means is that not only will the sequel's story end with the third DLC, but the overall, more personal story that began at the beginning of the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance will likely also be terminated. That story is about none other than Henry of Skalitz, who initially set out with the simple goal of retrieving his father's stolen sword, only to find himself on a path of grief, revenge, justice, and self-discovery that has stuck with me for the past seven years.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Henry quits

Maybe you're thinking, “Won't a new story for Henry start next Kingdom Come: Deliverance?” But I'd say you're in denial. See, the actor who plays Henry, the magnificent Tom McKay, wrote on X back in August that he had just recorded his “last DLC 3 voice over session.” Now, alone, it seems that he simply finished recording the dialogue for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. But he goes on in the same post to clarify, “and so my last session ever for @KingdomComeRPG.”

“Last Ever” – probably the two most heartbreaking words I've ever heard come out of Tom McKay's mouth since I first heard his voice in the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance. If you are still holding out hope that he is not completely done with Kingdom Come: Deliverancelet me drive the knife in deeper by telling you about yet another post from Warhorse Studios on X that showed how the team threw a big party for Tom and said “Thank you, Tom – you will always be a part of Warhorse history!” I mean, that sounds like a real broadcast if I ever heard one.

So what is the conclusion then? I would bet Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2The next DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiae, will give Henry some sort of heartwarming (and heartbreaking) farewell. At this point, I have no idea what that will look like, and I dread to consider the possibility that his story will end badly. After all, Mysteria Ecclesiae will see Henry investigate a mysterious outbreak – one that he is potentially exposed to as much as those he will help. And with the third DLC's confirmed “unexpected ending,” players may get a chance to choose whether Henry lives or dies.

Kingdom Come Deliverance Henry in disguise

Personally, I'd love to see him eventually reunite with his romantic partner and then settle down on a quiet farm, maybe have kids. For me, that would be it Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2It's Katherine, who I know is old enough to be Henry's mother, but I don't care. Whether it ends well, but after seven years with him, I still don't want to see Henry go. Ultimately, this means next Kingdom Come: Deliverance will likely feature a brand new protagonist, and while I trust Warhorse to do a good job with whoever it is, who can beat Tom McKay?
