I feel that some upgrade their phones each year with each new hardware audit, but I like to put more space between my devices. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 2017 and got stuck with it until I decided to get Google Pixel 6 in 2021. I did not plan to buy a new phone for another year, but Google emailed me with all types of enticing offers if I upgraded to one of the brand new units from its from its Google Pixel 10 Line with phones. When I wanted a stiff phone and sold by benefits as a free year by Google Ai Pro, I took the step and bought a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, which usually sells for $ 1,199.00.
My Google Pixel 10 Pro XL arrived on Thursday, August 28, and I spent a lot of time using it this Labor Day weekend. When it had been four years since I last bought a phone, I expected Google Pixel 10 Pro XL to blow me away with its progress. At least I expected a phone that works better than my Pixel 6. Instead, I got away with the lesson that I can wait much longer between telephone upgrades without missing much of anything.
Pixel 10 Pro XL just doesn't work as well as my pixel 6
I jump from a Google Pixel 6 all the way to a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, I can expect it to be significant and noticeable performance improvements. On the contrary, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL has not worked as well as its 4-year-old predecessor in my testing of it. In one case, I tried to skip videos with Pixel 10 Pro XL, just for the videos to freeze every time. Several updates and switches to different internet did nothing to help. Using my Pixel 6 on the same exact internet used by my Pixel 10 Pro XL, I could load videos and skip with zero problems.
It's not the only performance problem I've encountered since I switched to Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. There is a small but noticeable delay when I enter the code on my unlock screen that is not there with Pixel 6. My to-do app is a Laggy nightmare on Pixel 10 Pro XL and often crashes on the new device, plus there is general inertia when I use the phone that is not on my Pixel 6.
Destiny: Rising is a disaster on Google Pixel 10 Pro XL
Destiny: Rising Is one of the biggest new mobile game editions of the year, but prepare to jump through some bows if you want to play it on a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. Destiny: Rising Translate Bungie's Looter-Shooter MMO/FPS formula into mobile devices surprisingly well, and the game has already received a lot of praise. I would love to play it more, but on the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL there are black boxes that pick up the screen and make it practically impossible to play. There are apparently solutions to solve this issue, but the fact that one of the biggest new mobile games of the year requires such solutions to work with the latest, top-of-the-line new pixel is frustrating. Users should not have to rely on solutions – games should only work.
Future updates should make Google Pixel 10 Pro XL a better phone
It is likely that apps and games like Destiny: Rising Will get updates to make them more compatible with Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and these problems will be solved in short order, but they are widespread in this writing. Since I got Google Pixel 10 Pro XL on Thursday, August 28, however, I have been extremely disappointed. This is the first time I've ever upgraded to a new phone and felt worse. Based on the specifications, Pixel 10 Pro XL should be a much better phone than my Pixel 6, but it is a lateral feature at its best and for the most part it is a clearly inferior experience in desperate need of updates. It is likely to be a much simpler recommendation when the problems with the early day have been sorted out, but if you are on the market for a new phone I would keep going Google Pixel 10 Pro XL – especially if you already have an older Pixel phone at hand.
