Time flows just as you think it does Fallout 4and while normally not a problem, you may need to be in certain time windows in the game if you want to progress certain quests (or if you just want to skip days/nights). Thankfully, just like in Bethesda's other RPGs, players can time skip Fallout 4 whenever they want, provided they are not overrun or shot at, and that there is a proper resting place nearby.

Waiting in Fallout 4 is a handy feature that lets players pass the time in the game. Doing so is pretty easy, but if you're coming from another Bethesda game, there's one important difference you need to keep in mind.

To skip or pass the time Fallout 4, you have to find somewhere to sitregardless of whether it is a chair or something similar to a chair. Once you find somewhere to sit down, a prompt appears on the screen. Tap it and you can choose how many hours you can skip in the game.

Alternatively, you can also find and use beds. This is much better than just sitting somewhere, because resting on a bed gives you a well-rested benefit.

Sleeping on a bed will also restore your health, making it a great way to heal up without using any valuable items. Interestingly, you will not take damage from hunger/thirst while sleeping in survival mode.

You can get the Well-Rested buff by sleeping on any bed for at least one hour. This will increase the XP you get from any source by 10%, and it will last for eight hours in the game. However, there are a few important things you need to know about how this works:

  • You can only get the well-rested benefit by sleeping on beds you own or have rented (this includes sleeping bags).

  • If you play in Survival mode, you must sleep for at least seven hours on an owned/rented bed. You cannot use sleeping bags to gain the well-rested benefit due to the limit on how long you can sleep on them.

    • Well-Rested will also give you a bonus to your AGI and END when playing in Survival mode.

  • If you have a romantic relationship with a FO4 company, you can sleep in the same bed as them. This will turn Well-Rested into Lover's Embrace, which will increase the XP bonus to 15%.
