One of the more distinct parts of the Code Vein 2 is its time travel premise. While not the most in-depth or mechanically diverse, it allows you to spend even more time with the characters you're made to fight, providing an interesting thematic depth.
As with most other heroes, you get to completely change Lyle's history after your first visit to his era. But the game doesn't give you much indication of exactly how you're supposed to do it.
How do you return to Lyle's era?
After beating the one-armed hero Lyle at Forward Base One, you'll see that as with other heroes, his Fading Bond remainsindicating that you can return to his era and change things. But right now it's too weak. Not even a more emotionally connected item will solve it this time.
Lou points out that instead you have to find him in another era and change history from therein some way. That's her only tip, although it's more than enough for what we need.
Journey to the Free Exploration Era. Although this time period usually lacks the necessary history, this is the one exception. Usually after completing a visit to a hero's era, they appear as a partner with quests in MagMell. Lyle hasn't reached that point yet.
Instead, we must go to Forward Base One. The Free Exploration Era takes place after the events of Lyle's Era, but before the Upheaval, giving a small window before his disappearance.
Once you arrive, you will see Lyle standing amidst the ruins of the area, mourning the loss of his family. But with your return, he's gained some motivation. He says he will build a memorial for his friends before he leaves and hopes that you will also show your respect.
The quest won't update here in the journal, but it has. Return to the current era and back to Forward Base One. There will be a new bond you can interact withand a small memorial to the Dawn Chorus. Interact with this, and you'll be able to return to Lyle's Era.

The present is just as malleable as the past, it turns out.
Enter the large sealed mine
After returning to Lyle's Era, you will be tasked meet the members of the Dawn Choruswho is still safe in Pioneer Castle, and has sent Lyle on a mission to the Great Sealed Mine to discover the root of the strangeness occurring in the region.
With a warning from your own character, you head to the large sealed mine to give Lyle a handand Craig insists on coming with you and locking him in as your companion during this episode.
Craig cannot be deployed as a partner during this episode, and so remains Assimilated, giving you bonus damage.
Once in the mines you will meet Lyle, where he will continue with his investigation while you and Craig conduct one of your own. As you progress through the mine, you find letters from the late queen, Imogen, who also happens to be Craig's mother. You get an explanation for their exile, as well as the evil that lurks beneath the corroded scar.
You'll get a few more memory flashbacks along the way until you get to the end, there you will see the pioneer queen Imogenapparently having lost his mind from years of containing the threat under the region.
At this point you get Lyle as a partner while Craig returns to Pioneer Castle to help defend it from a sudden ambush by Gobbo and his forces.
Defeat Pioneer Queen Imogen
If you've already helped Valentin during the Free Exploration Era, you may have already fought a version of Queen Imogen, the queen of the divide. Pioneer Queen Imogen is basically the full version of the fight, although it should give you a basis for how the fight unfolds.
For the most part, Imogen's moves are all close quarters, with the odd projectile. That said, all of her moves can circle around her to cover all of her angles, so you need to be proactive in defending yourself.
If you choose to play more ranged, the bayonet can be handy for its many different forma attacksas well as their own bullets. Lyle is also good at dealing damage and can build up quite a bit of slack with your help, allowing you to defeat Imogen with ease.
After she is defeated you return to Craig who says they defended Pioneer Castle with ease and a sudden earthquake took out most of the ambush. As a reward for completing this, you will receive Craig as a summoning partner, Pioneer Queen Imogen Blood Code, and the ability to fight the hero Lyle in the current era.
