What is a Battle Art Chain?
A Battle Art Chain is one combo attack performed with an allied officer. In theory, it could be any character fighting on your side, even a nameless general, but you're more likely to get them with central characters whose Bond level you've built up.
Your companion is usually the easiest character to perform a Battle Art Chain with.
If you successfully perform a Battle Art Chain, your ally will follow up with one of their own Battle Artswhich does additional damage beyond your own attack.

How to make a Battle Art Chain
When fighting alongside an ally, watch for a chain link icon to appear over their head. This indicates that they have built up enough courage to perform a Battle Art Chain. There's no way to tell how much courage a character has, friend or foe, so it's important to know what's going on around you.
Frequently using Eyes Of The Sacred Bird to see the nearby battlefield can help keep track of your allies' remaining health as well.
When an ally is ready to perform a Battle Art Chain, move next to them. You will see one blue line between yourself and allies. While the line is present, you can perform a Battle Art Chain of run any of your equipped Battle Arts.
The blue line looks like almost identical to that which indicates a possibility of great success on a tactic. Check which line you are looking at before you decide!
Allies must remain within range throughout the martial artand Battle Art's animation must be completely finished to trigger a Battle Art Chain. For this reason, it is best to use cheap, fast Battle Arts like Palm Strike unless you are sure that a longer attack will be able to play out.
If the ally is still present when your Battle Art completes, they will jump in to perform their own. Similar to Parry and Musou attacks, time stops during your ally's follow-up. After the attack is finished, you must wait until your ally has built up more courage to perform another Battle Art Chain.
Allies seem to build courage much more slowly than enemies and Ziluan himself. It is better to use Battle Art Chains when available than trying to force a situation where you can use them. Tactics, Musou attacks, and other abilities that you have direct control over are much more reliable.
