The world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is twice the size of the previous game, with tons of horses you can keep or steal for certain benefits. This time you have not just one region to explore, but two, filled with quests, characters to meet and so much more. But traveling across the country requires a reliable companion, and in the Middle Ages there was no better means of transport than horses.
Horses come in different shapes, colors and stats, but if you want the best, you need to know where to find them. But sometimes the best horses aren't always yours to keep. But we can let you in on a little secret.
Updated March 7, 2026 by Ben Williams: We have now considered when it is best to keep or sell a horse in KCD2 and provided a summary of when it is best to choose either option.
How to keep stolen horses
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it's easy to steal horses if you need a quick ride; you simply walk up to one and mount it. However, you can get into trouble if someone spots you and reports you to the guard.
What's more, when you steal a horse, you don't own said horse – as it will only be available for as long as you ride it. It is here Horseman entersbecause they will help you solve this problem.
Thankfully, every region has one of these merchants.
In Trosky you can find Horseman Mikolai west of the map, where Nomadic camp exists.
In Kuttenberg, the Horse driver Stoia lies exactly west of the town of Kuttenberg, in a deserted camp. Both of these will deal with any stolen horses you have.
All you need to do is take the stolen horse to themmake sure you don't get caught and then talk to them.
If it's your first time interacting with them, choose Horse Black Market optionand they will go into the details of their services.

Turn your horse out properly.
Get stolen horses
The first option is self-explanatory; if you see a horse you like in the world of KCD2 (whether it's because of its looks or its stats), you can bring it to any horse riderand they will tame it for you to be your ride. Just select 'Acquire' option.
However, this is not a free service, and you have to pay. The payment is coming in large part depends on the horse's value and stats.
The process will take a a few hours of play time, but after that the stolen horse is yours. You can call it by whistling and calling itand you won't get in trouble for it.
Sell stolen horses
On the other hand, if you want make some quick money and have no other way in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, sell stolen horses could be the solution.
The process is the same as before: you have to ride the stolen horse to the Horse Handler locationdepending on the region you are in. But this time you will select the option to sell the.
The price will vary depending on the value of the horseof course, but it can be a good way to make some easy money. You just have to also make sure you don't get caught with the stolen horse.
Holding vs. Selling stolen horses
Deciding whether to keep or sell a stolen horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 usually is about what you need most right now: mobility or money. Keeping a stolen mount can be an advantage in the early game, especially if you run into a mount with much better stats than anything you could reasonably afford.
Higher speed, stamina or courage can make travel safer and much more efficient, and Washing a strong stolen horse through a driver is often cheaper than buying an equivalent one.
On the other hand, not every horse you steal is a prize. If its stats match or fall below the mount you already own, selling it is the much more sensible choice.
Handlers pay surprisingly well for unwanted horses, and turning a bad steal into quick coin can be an easy way to fund equipment, repairs, or even future “acquisitions” that may turn out to be luckier.
