Mechabellum is about going on big battles with other players. It is a very competitive game, but if you want to challenge it with just your friends, the game gives you that option as well. However, setting up a private match and inviting friends to a casual battle can be a bit confusing.
There is a lot to learn mechabellum, and that's exactly why it's one of the best car fighters out there. Learning with a friend or two can make the whole process more convenient, and if you can't figure out how to invite your buddies to your lobbies, here's how.
How to set up private friend lobbies in Mechabellum
First, you need to create a private room. Go to the Multiplayer tab and then click Create room at the bottom right of the screen. Adjust the settings however you like – you can also select PvE Survival mode from the drop-down menu here, if you and your friends want to try fighting the AI instead of each other.
Once the room is ready, anyone will be able to join if not Invitation only option was selected when the room was created. To invite players, click small square to the right of your name in the lower left. This will open a list containing all your Steam friends who own the game, as well as any other players you've followed. Click on their name, hit the invite button and you're done. Getting a group together takes a bit more clicks than the average strategy game, but it works.
Similarly, you can join any player in your friends list via the same method mentioned above. If you want to follow other players who are not in your Steam friends list, click on their name and click the Follow button. A prompt will also appear asking if you want to add them as a friend on Steam.
How to match with friends
If you'd rather fight other random people, you can invite a friend to a party in the Multiplayer tab by clicking the plus sign (+) on the right side. Anyone who is not offline or in an ongoing match will appear here. Once they've accepted the invitation, click Start and the matchmaking queue will begin. Remember to keep some of them Mechabellums best practices in mind if you want to win more games!
You can choose which game mode you want to queue for by clicking the buttons above the match list in the Multiplayer Players tab. Simply highlight which game mode you don't want to play and then hit the matchmake button.
