Many of the quests are related to the various ARC enemies in Arc Raiders. Mixed signals is one of Shani's missions where players must deal with a ARC Surveyor and get one Surveyor Vault from that. These enemies are very difficult to access, and chances are players may not even have interacted with one at this point in the game. The guide below provides information on their location and how to destroy them as they have an ability to roll away Arc Raiders.
Updated January 13, 2026 by Waseem Muhammad: ARC Surveyors are the only harmless enemies in the game. These enemies can drop blueprints, so destroying them while spawning isn't a bad idea. The guide below has been updated to include additional information on how to handle ARC Surveyors and the best weapons and explosives to use. The main reason for this is to destroy them quickly before they can roll away from the player.

How to find & destroy ARC Surveyors in Arc Raiders
ARC Inspectors are the ball-like machines that roll around the map and start rolling away if you start shooting at them. You can find them on any map, though the chances of them spawning are lowand even if they spawn, finding them can be difficult since the maps are quite large in scale.
As soon as you drop into a match, your first focus should be to get out of the building you spawned in and look around in the sky. The ARC Surveyor has a habit of sending out a beacon, and it shows up as a blue light touching the sky. However, this does not persist as the beacon will be turned on and off.
If you succeed in spotting it by this beacon, make your way in the general direction, and soon you should come up to its place. When it comes to Augment, you don't need to level up because you don't really need that many Quick Slots. Even a Looting MK1 should be more than enough.
Due to the large number of grenades and useful items like mines available in the game, you can make it easy for these Surveyors. Now there are two ways to destroy Surveyors in seconds. The first thing is that bring Showstopper Grenades. These grenades emit an electrical pulse that temporarily immobilizes the machine, giving you about 10 seconds to damage it. You can then follow up with either weapon fire or use another grenade, such as stick some snap grenades or throw a Blaze grenade under itso it burns constantly.
Other grenades, like Trigger Nades or Trailblazer, work the same way, so you have many options when it comes to these explosive objects. For the second method, you will only change the first part of the plan, which is to use a Showstopper grenade. The Photoelectric mantle is an item that allows players to get extremely close to ARC enemies without them seeing you. This cloak works on all ARC enemies, so you can bring one and use it to get close to Surveyor. Wait for it to go into its beaconform, and this is your chance to throw your grenades.
In the second method, you can ignore all grenades and simply put a single Deadline on itwhich will make a lot of noise but should be enough to do it quickly. If you plan to shoot it instead, you need a fast-firing weapon that has high ARC penetration. Renegade and Venator are good options which doesn't use that much ammo.
When the ARC Surveyor takes damage, it will lose the armor shell around its body, and pieces will fall off that you can loot later. It will constantly try to move away because it doesn't hurt the player. If you manage to take it down, you'll get a lot of resources, including quite a few ARC Motion Cores and ARC Surveyor, as required for the assignment.
