Unfortunately, Fortnite itself does not offer custom crosshairs which players can adjust in the settings. However, PC gamers can turn to third-party software to achieve this feature, allowing console gamers to rely on a monitor that comes with preset crosshairs as part of its settings.
There are several programs available that provide custom crosshairs, with two standout options available on the Epic Games Store: Crosshair V2 and Crosshair X. While Crosshair X costs $7.99, Crosshair V2 is freemaking it an excellent choice for those looking for a cost-effective solution.
How to set up a custom crosshair with Crosshair V2
Crosshair V2 is an easy start and play solution for players looking to get their hands on a solid custom crosshair for Fortnite. Before players can begin setting up their crosshairs, they must first disable the reticle found in Fortnite. This can be done by:
- Navigates over to Settings and on the way to Game UI tab.
- Set crosshairs to Off.
Once that's done, players can move on and open Crosshair V2 via the Epic Games Store. Opening up the software will automatically apply a crosshair to the center of the screen, one that can then be change in game with the following hotkeys:
- Z: Change color
- C: Resize
- X: Change shape
Crosshair V2 must remain open for the crosshair to remain activebut players can press F2 to hide the program's menuallowing players to get back into the action without any distractions. The simplicity of the Crosshair V2 makes it an excellent option for players looking for a quick and easy solution.
If players want even more customization options for their custom crosshair, they can always get their hands on the Crosshair X either through the Epic Games Store or by upgrading to it through the Crosshair V2 by pressing D9.
If the crosshairs do not appear in the game, make sure Display Mode is set to Full Screen or Windowed and Rendering is set to Direct X12.
