Players will encounter many different puzzles during their time Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered — two of the best games from Crystal Dynamics. These puzzles are not optional choices to get bonus items – as with many modern games. Instead, these puzzles will completely halt your progress until you can overcome what they require of you.
Melchiah is one of the game's many bosses and will grant players a new ability after defeating him. But players must first solve a puzzle before they can find him. Navigation is much easier than the original PS1 game thanks to the newly added gameplay feature of a compass.

8 PS1 horror games that deserve a modern remake
With some of the best horror games getting remakes these days, it would also be nice to see these PS1 titles get the same treatment.
Melchiah Room Puzzle in Soul Reaver
Players will move on Cemetery to meet Melkia. Some players may think he's lurking behind the large gate to a previous puzzle, but he actually comes right after. Players will know they are in Melchiah's room puzzle when they see his symbols all over the floor along with an elevator at the other end of where they came from. Players start by taking the elevator down to the lower floor. Players can then take either the left or right path.
Both are viable options, but 2 enemies will be encountered on the right path, while only one will be on the left. The enemy on the left has a spear impaling them, meaning this can be used to deal with all 3 enemies without having to run back and forth picking up torches.
Don't kill the human guard. He will surrender when you get close to him. Killing people in the game will make them turn on you. If you do them no harm, they will not harm you. This isn't the only game that discourages harming innocent NPCs.
When the player reaches the far eastern side of the track, they will encounter a door that they can go through. Follow along the west wall and interact with the switch. Now head east again along the walls to find a large crank. Interact with this crank to turn on the big machine. Indeed, this machine will play an important role in the future boss fight against Melkia.
Go back to the elevator and take it back to the top. Pull the lever opposite the elevator to lower the central platform. Jump down and go to the northwest corner. Look along the west wall and you'll find a tunnel that you can use to move down. Follow this tunnel to the other side to find a room with 4 blocks under lit fires. Each of these blocks can be pushed to a point where they will burn and destroy the wooden beams that hold up the central platform. After a short cutscene about the wood burning has finished playing, move on to the next block until the platform crashes.
You can now press the blocks again. Push each block into one of the corners of the central platform. You will hear a button click sound to confirm when one is pressed in the right place – making it feel like a puzzle from a The Legend of Zelda game. Once all four blocks are in place, the platform will fall again – solving the final part of this puzzle. Jump down to the central platform and go east. You will follow a path to an open gate that will close behind you. This will trigger the boss fight against Melchiah.
