Driving is a complicated matter My winter car. Especially if we're talking about your first vehicle, Sorbett. This is not a car well equipped for the snow, so you can lose control of your car quite easily and… kill someone. Of course you didn't want to, but now it's too late and the NPC is gone. Hopefully nothing else happens, right?
Wrong! My Winter Car has a jail system, and in this guide we'll explore everything you need to know about how it works and what you need to do to get out of jail.
My Winter Car is still in Early Access, so everything in this guide is subject to change.
How the prison system works
The game has an invisible Wanted system which will trigger when you do certain actions. You will never know you are wanteduntil it's too late: you fell asleep at home and when you wake up, someone knocks on your door: the police.
You open the main door and you will see two officers. They will give you a warrant for your arrestwhich you need to read and sign. Then poof, you're locked in a cell.
Once you are wanted, it is impossible to escape: there will be policemen at the front door and the back door, blocking all exits.
So, how did this happen? It turns out there are a handful of actions that can put you behind bars:
-
Knock an NPC unconscious.
-
Not stopping at police traffic controls.
-
Crashes your vehicle into another, killing the driver.
-
Killing a pedestrian with your car.
-
Not paying accumulated fines.
These are all reported and documented in the game's wiki, but I tried to trigger some of these and I couldn't. It's not that easy to kill someone with your car, and most NPCs don't react to your blows.
How to get out of jail
After signing the order, you will spawn in a cell. You will see, on the top left side of the screen, under all the usual attributes, a new one: Jail Days. So what can you do to get out of jail? Well… you must spend these days behind bars.
One day in the game is equivalent two real hoursso that's all you need to know. Your sentence will depend on the seriousness of your crime, and you can be arrested for more than one crime, adding all the days to a total.
If you get more than ten days, you can consider it kind of game over.
There is not much to do in your cell. You have a radio, a TV with bad programming, and that's it. You can go to bed and sleep, but that's it. You might consider starting a new game.
Use MWC CheatBox
Okay, so if you've been playing for a while and have made a lot of progress that you don't want to lose, don't worry, there is another solution: mods. Install the MWC CheatBox mod, and you'll get a setting that lets you get out of jail instantly.
