It is perhaps the hardest to beat, next to the pacifist challenge. This guide has been updated with information about the character and weapon added with the Spooky update, as they are good options for this challenge.

How to beat the AFK Gaming Challenge in Megabonk

Before attempting the AFK Gaming Challenge Megabankplayers must ensure they understand the rules of the challenge. In the AFK Gaming Challenge, players will not be able to move or jump.

The only movement they are allowed is to turn. This means that the WASD and Space keys will not work, but players can still use their mouse to move their characters. It allows them to target certain enemies depending on their weapon of choice, but they will have very limited control.

To complete the AFK Gaming Challenge, players must survive until the last swarm. Therefore, they must survive without moving or jumping for a total of 10 minutes. Below, players will find helpful tips that will prepare them for this feat.

Best builds for AFK Gaming Challenge in Megabonk

Since players cannot move while doing the AFK Gaming Challenge, they will quickly find themselves surrounded by enemies coming from all directions. Also, they won't get access to much XP since they can't move to reach the shards, so they'll mostly be stuck with their first weapon for a while.

For these reasons, players must consider the strength and default weapon of the character they choose. Two characters have a clear advantage in the AFK Gaming Challenge, and rightly so Megachad and Athena. In addition to having access to particularly useful weapons at the start of the run, their character abilities come in handy.

In the ghostly update, Roberto was added alongside his signature weapon, the Scythe. This character is another good option for the AFK Gaming Challenge, not only because of his weapon but also his unique ability.

Athena/Aegis – AFK Gaming Challenge Strategy

The AegisAthena's default weapon, is a riskier choice, as enemies have to get up close and personal with this character for her to damage them. It makes leveling up a lot easier though, as they'll be killed close enough for her to grab the XP shards they drop on death.

This doesn't necessarily need to be done with Athena, although Aegis is her default character. But she's the best character for it because her ability gives her Thorns every time she levels up and also makes her do more damage the lower her health is, making it easier to survive the early game if too many monsters hit her.

The Cooldown Tome and that Knockback Tome are good combos with Aegis, as they will pressure enemies and give her some time to reload the shield-like weapon.

Megachad/Aura – AFK Gaming Challenge Strategy

Megachad's default weapon is Aurawhich creates a protective field around him that can harm those who step inside. This makes it much easier for Megachad to survive the early game, when the weakest enemies appear. As if that wasn't enough, he can bend towards enemies, preventing them from taking damage and stunning them.

Once players pick up their first XP chunks, they should not invest in Aura right away. They must acquire an alternate weapon so they can damage enemies that approach or Attraction Tomeso they can grab XP shards that fall further away from Megachad.

Players don't want to have too many weapons here, as they need to invest in making the ones they have stronger to fight stronger enemies when they start appearing. The Knockback Tome and weapons that can propel enemies further away and back into Megachad's Aura are key. The Tornado is a good secondary weapon, as it knocks enemies back. When they upgrade it, it will increase its size, number of projectiles, as well as its damage and knockback.

Roberto/Scythe – AFK Gaming Challenge Strategy

Roberto is a good candidate for the AFK Gaming Challenge because of his starting weapon and unique character abilities. The scythe slashes in a circle around the player, making it much easier to survive the mobs coming from all sides. The Hoarder ability spawns a free chest every 60 seconds, giving players easy access to items – something that can be a game-changer in this challenge.

When playing as Roberto in the AFK Gaming Challenge, players will want to invest in Size Tome to increase the range of the scythe, HP Regen has his health will decay rather quickly, and Knockback Tome to push enemies away and give him a chance to hit them with the scythe more than once. Another good choice would be Cooldown Tome so he can attack enemies faster, and his scythe can kill them before they get too close.

As for complementary weapons, players will want to join Aegis to be able to survive when enemies get too close, and Damaged swordas it does more damage the lower the player's HP, cuts back and forth and pairs nicely with Size and Knockback.

Tips and tricks to complete the AFK Gaming Challenge in Megabonk

The characters, weapons, and tomes mentioned above can make it easier for players to reach the final swarm, but that's not all. There are other tips and tricks that are sure to help players survive those 10 minutes.

Familiarize yourself with the level

In the Forest, players will face an initial horde that approaches slowly, and the enemies can be separated. Then they will face a mini-boss followed by a swarm. Then the enemies will start pouring in slowly. Finally, a swarm will appear followed by another mini-boss.

It is important for players to know the timing of each attack, so it will not surprise them. They should have weapons strong enough to take out a boss without getting killed but should also be able to take out enough monsters at once to avoid being overwhelmed by the swarms. Here is the exact timing of each attack on the forest map:

7:00 – First mini-boss
6:00 – First swarm
3:00 – Second swarm
02:00 – Second mini-boss
0:00 – Last swarm

The hordes of monsters will differ, and the challenge can be significantly more difficult depending on the first enemies that appear. Skeletons, goblins, bees and slimes are much easier to take out compared to the runners and the explosive monsters.

As for the bosses, they will have to face both the Stone Golem and Chunkham the Terrible – it is random which one will appear first. The Stone Golem will summon sharp rocks from the ground that send the player flying while the Chunkham will blast a ball of clay and slow down the players movement.

Buy the Togglern

When player purchased 40 is unlocked Megabankthe changer will appear in the store. It costs 50 silver but can be very helpful if players are trying to get specific items for a run. With Toggler, players can visit the Unlocks screen and disable any weapons, tomes, and items they have purchased.

This way, players can disable weapons and tomes that are not useful for AFK Gaming. Players won't get past any items unless they're lucky, but if they do, they'll still want to disable items that aren't helpful.

There is a chance that players can reach a chest and open it. In this case, shutting down as many useless items (in this situation) as possible is extremely important, as it increases their chances of getting a useful item, and it just might be crucial to making it to the end of the run. There are two special game-changing items for the AFK Gaming Challenge i Megabank:

Campfire – Standing heals the player
Inactive juice – The longer the player stands still, the more damage they will deal (up to +100 percent damage)

Get banished, skip and update fees

Since it is not possible to disable all weapons, tomes and items with Toggler, players will also want to invest in upgrading their Banish, Skip and Refresh charges. This way, when given a choice between upgrades they don't want, they can simply update them until they get a better choice, banish them if they're completely useless, or skip them.

For example, since the Agility Tome will not help at all during this run as players must be still, players should consider banishing it. The same goes for any items they can pick up or buy (if they're lucky enough to get near a Moai shrine or a chest) that don't provide any benefits.
