Before anything else, you need to be aware of Guillotina's fighting style in order to deal with her effectively in the arena. She has two combat phases that happen in the same run. Here's a quick overview of each:

  • First phase: Her health is between 400 and 201, and she either jumps onto a tile after a normal walk and damages units and animals halfway and those she lands on, picks up a nearby playable character and throws it onto a random tile, or inhales a cat and spits it out 3 to 6 tiles away.
  • Second phase: As soon as her health drops to 50% (that's 200), she turns from a cool giant into an angry monster. Not only does she heal 49 hit points, bringing her health to 249 and clearing all debuffs, but her regular attacks also hit harder. She can now swallow inhaled units and even devour them whole to gain 25 HP.

Tips for beating Guillotina in Mewgenics

  • Lock in retired cats with three to six levels for massive one-time damage. You can acquire these advanced units by taking two to three cats on an adventure and ending the trip as soon as you upgrade your unit to the desired level, or use a Neverstone to prevent stray cats that come with you from advancing, so that only your selected units level up.
  • Make sure some of your retired felines can spawn extra creatures (also called familiars), as they will help during the fight to hit the Guillotina along with your controlled swings. You can choose the Necromancer class for leech play or deploy trinkets like Botfly Larva or Whistle for fly, flea or maggot play.
  • Try to pick passive abilities and trinkets that can cause poison and bleed effects on the guillotineas these can cause her to die even if she has enough hp left.
  • Last but not least, stand on the tall grass for a 50% chance… Her arena will have lots of smaller patches as well, so just use water elemental effects to turn them into taller grass tiles and take advantage of dodging attacks.

If the Guillotina doesn't appear, chances are you haven't completed The Boneyard map yet. Her battle's seven-day timer will automatically appear after you clear it for the first time and watch her cutscene. If you're not sure how to get to the Boneyard, you can read our detailed guide that covers all the actions and areas of Mewgenics for an easy reference. Once you've seen the timer, you're then forced to take on this fight instead of your regular end-of-game week adventure.
