With a DRM version available to players at the launch, Hollow Knight: Silksong joined such as the last of us part 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy 7 rebirth and more recently, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater as games to immediately be broken by video games pirates and available on the dark side of the Internet.
In addition to pirates from video games urging each other not to pirate the game, a rare example of friendship over one of the most long -awaited titles in the latest memory.
Is Silksong the first game to have pirates willing to spend their own money?
As first discovered by game radar, via Reddit's own piracy subreddit, several members of the piracy community have said that they will not benefit from the silksong being cracked.
“It is a 3-4 person team that has done the right thing by their fans at every turn,” a player wrote. “Make sure the PC edition is DRM -free. Make sure all the original supporters of Hollow Knight will be silksong for free on their choice of platform. This is a time there if we can afford to support them, we should.”
That feeling was repeated by another pirate, who wrote: “Hello, the game is quite cheap. This, we shouldn't pirate.”
As a user noted, Silksong is particularly rare territory when it comes to piracy, as many pirates do not claim to care about price, gaming status or title does not matter when choosing whether to pirate a game or not, but in this case they obviously care and vocalization of it.
I guess silksong is just so respected.
Of course, given that Silksong has managed to crack over 500,000 players during the first hours on Steam alone, it's not like Team Cherry will end cash at any time. Still, it is a pretty interesting sight to see a game that is asked to buy.
