Highguard leaks new Steampunk character

A new leak has revealed three new ones Highguard Wardens that may come to the game in the near future. Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but these Highguard The characters are an interesting glimpse into potential new content, with one having some serious steampunk vibes.

Highguard is an interesting case in a line of titles struggling to make their mark as a live service title. It was revealed at The Game Awards 2025 as the last major announcement, before going quiet until its launch on January 26, 2026. Players turned out in large numbers for its initial launch, but player numbers quickly dropped amid poor reviews. Despite what the game's director claims HighguardThe number of players doesn't matter, developer Wildlight Entertainment has already been hit with mass layoffs just weeks after launch. This has called into question the launch of its ambitious post-launch content roadmap.

Highguard Leak Shows Off Three New Wardens

On X, leaker X0X_LEAK shared an image of an unreleased Highguard Warden named Koldo, a supporting character with a steampunk visual aesthetic. Koldo looks amazing, that much is for sure, but it's how the character plays that really matters. Very little is known about the character based on the image, except that he has a passive power called Guardian Angel with the following description: “Protect all friendly orbs around you from destruction. Automatically deploy your shield when you revive allies.” This kind of supporting playstyle might not be for everyone, but Koldo looks cool enough that some players will still pick him regardless.

The image also shows two more unreleased Wardens. One is a female character with long brunette hair, while the other appears to be an alien green male. X0X_Leak says the female character is named Onyx, although very little is known about either of them, as the leak doesn't reveal their full designs or abilities. According to X0X_LEAK, this leak comes from an unlisted Highguard YouTube video. As with all leaks, the presence of these Wardens should be taken with a grain of salt. This is especially important considering Highguards precarious situation at the moment. It is still unclear how much Highguards content roadmap will be affected by Wildlight's recent layoffs, meaning there's no guarantee these characters will ever see the light of day. In this case, it will be best to simply wait and see what happens.

Highguard has already added a new Warden post-launch named Ekon, which was introduced as part of the game's Episode 2 update. Ekon can transform into a wolf form, making him a unique addition to the character roster. So far, Highguard has done a great job of making each Warden feel distinct throughout the game, and from the leaked image, the same can be said for Koldo. Given the lack of details about the other two unreleased Wardens, it's impossible to say the same about them either way.

The layoffs at Wildlight Entertainment make it very difficult to watch Highguards future in a positive light. The similarities to Harmony are obvious – they're both hero shooters who struggled to find an audience in an increasingly competitive live service environment. Harmony was shut down within two weeks of launch, but it's also worth noting Highguard at least had the benefit of a strong launch, with players willing to try out the free-to-play title in large numbers. It would be a shame to see Highguard go in the same direction, and with a cut development team, the game now faces an uphill battle to draw in players. Adding these leaked characters would be a good start.
