Here's how to find all Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in Legends: ZA

Pokemon Legends: ZAs Mega Dimension DLC reintroduces a whopping 9 Legendary Pokemon and 11 Mythical Pokemon, and you can actually catch them all right away. Pokemon Legends: ZA had 230 Pokémon in its base game Pokedex, which includes all animals from the Kalos region as well as several other pocket monsters. However, there was only one Gen 7 and one Gen 8 Pokémon in the form of Drampa and Falinks respectively, with no Gen 9 animals present.

In the post-launch period, events were made available for Diancie and Mewtwo i Pokemon Legends: ZAbringing the total number of animals in the game to 232. Now, the Mega Dimension DLC adds another 132 Pokémon and several regional forms to the mix, including several Legendary and Mythical Pokémon for players to collect. Some of them are part of the story, while others are only post-game and even require special steps to get. But fans discovered that they are all available to catch right now, with no events required.

Pokemon Legends: ZA players can now claim some new items via Mystery Gift, all of which can come in handy when the Mega Dimension DLC goes live.

How to Get All Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA's Mega Dimension DLC (and Shiny Too)

The returning Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZAs DLC includes a variety of legendaries and mythics. The following list includes all returning Legendary and Mythical Pokémon and how to obtain them:

• Legendary:
  • Heat run: Advance through the Mega Dimension DLC story and craft a 3-star or 4-star Monk to access Hyperspace Lumiose. Then fight the Mega Heatran and capture it.
  • Groudon: Go through the Mega Dimension DLC story and make an Omega Old-Fashioned Donut to unlock the fight against Primal Groudon.
  • Kyogre: Advance through the Mega Dimension DLC story and make an Alpha Old-Fashioned Donut to unlock the fight against Primal Kyogre.
  • Rayquaza: Progress through the Mega Dimension DLC story and make a Delta Old-Fashioned Donut to unlock the fight against Mega Rayquaza.
  • Latias: Via special scan.
  • Latios: Via special scan.
  • Virizion: Via special scan.
  • Terrakion: Via special scan.
  • Cobalion: Via special scan.
• Mythical:
  • Darkrai: Progress through the Mega Dimension DLC story and make a Bad Dreams Cruller Donut to unlock the fight against Mega Darkrai.
  • Genesect: Get Side Mission 191: Collect four units from the shady man selling new TM:si Pokemon Legends: ZAwhich will require you to buy the four units from him for Mega Shards. Each Drive, Douse, Shock, Burn and Chill costs 540 Mega Shards. After that, follow the directions of the quest to find the Genesect, fight it and capture it.
  • Marshadow: Get Side Mission 192: The Stealthy Shadow from Gardie, located in Jaune Sector 11, then head to the battle yard near Wild Zone 20 late in the day. When the shadow from the tower hits the center of the courtyard, a Poke Ball, Marshadow will appear and you will be able to fight it and capture it. It is worth noting that the shadow of the tower will reach the courtyard at dusk, and you will need the weather conditions to be sunny, otherwise the tower will not cast its shadow.
  • Meltan and Melmetal: Get Side Quest 193: Dreaming of Meltan in Rouge Sector 1, then fight and capture Meltan. A Hyperspace area will appear and you need a Donut to access it. Once inside, follow the quest steps to get Melmetal.
  • Volcano: Get Side Mission 194: Volcanion Unleashed at Mable's lab and follow the steps in the mission. This will cause Volcanion to spawn, so you will be able to fight and capture it.
  • The stomachs: Get Side Quest 195: Restarting the Mages from Jett at Quasartico. Collect the 999 Mega Shards and talk to Jett again, who will give you both the Magearna and the Mega Magearna Mega Stone.
  • Whoa: Get Side Quest 196: The Djinn Unbound from Taunie/Urbain at Hotel Z. Follow the step quests and enter Hyperspace Lumiose with a 4-star or 5-star Donut, then battle and defeat Hoopa Unbound to unlock the Pokemon.
  • Zeraora: Buy Canary Bread from Terragon at Racine Construction, then find a kid on the rooftops in Vert Sector 3. Exchange the Canary Bread for Popping Candy, then go to Hotel Z and talk to Ansha. You need to bake a Plazma-Glazed Donut for Zeraora, then Emma will call and give you Side Mission EX3: Raging Lightning. Follow the quest steps to defeat Mega Zeraora and capture it.
  • Chaldeo: Via special scan.
  • Meloetta: Via special scan.

The special scans needed to obtain Legendary and Mythical Pokémon will only become available after beating the DLC's story. At this point, you'll have more survey tasks to complete, and when you get 25,000 points or more, you can go back to Corbeau and Philippe. Here, Philippe will give you the option to start a special scan, which will open a new portal to Pokemon Legends: ZAs Hyperspace Lumiose.

This portal may contain one of the exclusive Legendary or Mythical Pokémon, but it is random, and it is a rare occurrence. This means that it will take some time to find all the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but it can be done right now without timed content.

Also, for those looking for shiny creatures, the following legendary Pokemon can be shiny:

• Latias

• Latios

• Virizion

• Terrakion

• Cobalion

There are shiny new hunting methods in the Pokemon Legends: ZAs DLC as well, so you can use them to have increased chances of getting these creatures as shiny. More importantly, you can save in front of the portal, and if you find one in the special scanning portals that aren't shiny, there's a solution. You can close the game, restart it, and at the title screen, press the up arrow, X, and B simultaneously to load the previous hard save into your game, bypassing any subsequent autosaves.
