We have entered the holiday season, and with it comes Pokemon Go annual holiday event! As previous years have Holiday events 2024 will be split into two parts, with different bonuses, features, and of course select Pokemon.

Part one of Pokemon Go 2024 Holiday Event will be active for about six days, spanning over from Tuesday 17 December 2024 at 10.00 local time until Sunday 22 December 2024 at 09.59 local time. Our complete guide for this event is below, which currently contains information about part one of this event, and will be updated for part two.

Pokemon Go debuts

There will be two Pokémon Go debuts comes with this year's Holiday Event. This includes both a brand new dressed Pokemon and a Pokemon that will have the ability to become shiny for the first time.

First you will have the opportunity to meet and capture Dedenne is wearing a vacation outfit. This dressed Pokémon will be available to battle in its own One-Star Raid during this event.

In addition, you will have chance to encounter and capture Shiny Sandygast for the first time in Pokemon Go. During this event you will be able to face Sandygast as one wild encounters with Pokémon and as a one-star raid Pokémon.

Event bonuses

"10,000 XP" in an orange circle, next to five Pokémon Go Lucky Eggs.

There will be two different bonuses active during part one of the 2024 holiday event, each dealing with different aspects of the game. These two bonuses include:

  • Catching Pokemon will give you double XP.

  • Eggs in incubators during this event will have half the hatch distance.

Event Wild Encounter Pokemon

You can also expect to see one change in Pokemon you encounter in the wild. For the 2024 holiday event, there will be several holiday-themed Pokemon that appear more often in the wild, including:

  • Delibird in a holiday band
  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Alolan Diglett
  • Swinub
  • Numel
  • Sandy gasp
  • Bergmite
  • Litleo
  • Darumaka
  • Snow

Event raids

It will be different Event-themed Pokémon that appear in Raids during this year's holiday events, including One-Star, Three-Star and Mega Raids. Each of these event Raid Pokémon are listed below with the type of Raid they will be found in.

Event eggs

7 km Egg obtained during this event will hatch Pokémon with different event themeswhich replace those usually found in this type of egg. Be sure to get and hatch eggs at 7km during this event for a chance to hatch one of the following six Pokémon.

  • Cubchoo wears a holiday ribbon
  • Pichu with a summer feel
  • Spheal wears a holiday scarf
  • Hisuian Growlithe
  • Amaura
  • Charcadet

7 km Eggs can be obtained from Gifts sent to you by other trainers you are friends with.

Event research

You will have opportunity to purchase Timed Research to join this event, which requires you to complete in-game tasks and gives you various rewards for doing so. This timed research will cost $2.00 in the Pokemon Go in-game store and will reward you with the following upon completion:

  • An incubator
  • Event themed Pokémon encounters
  • Two Premium Battle Passes
  • 1,500 Stardust

Field research tasks

During this event you can get Event Field Research data from visiting and spinning PokeStop photo discs. Completing these tasks will reward you with various event-themed Pokemon encounters.

Collection challenges

There will be event Collection Challenges available to fill out during this event. To complete these collection challenges, you must catch and defeat specific Pokémon in Raidsrewards you with Stardust, Poke Balls and Great Balls.

Event Pokemon Showcases

You will have the opportunity to compete in different Event Pokemon Showcases during this event, appearing at various PokeStops throughout the game. Make sure that enter different Pokémon with event themes into these Pokemon Showcases and reward you with various in-game items.

You will be ranked higher in these Pokemon Showcases when you enter the largest or smallest Pokemon, depending on the type of showcase.

Therefore, be sure to do so catch and keep event-themed Pokémon that are either large or small.
