“To any of my contacts at Rockstar Games and Rockstar Toronto, or anyone else who might be able to help. A member of my family who has been battling cancer for a year recently received the worst possible news, he was given 6-12 months to live […] They're a big GTA fan, and with this latest update, he might not be around long enough to actually see GTA 6 launch, at best he'll leave us the same month it does.”

This was the plea that Ubisoft Toronto developer Anthony Armstrong made on LinkedIn, hoping to cut through the Rockstar secrecy and help his loved one get in with a chance to play the long-awaited next installment in their favorite series before it's too late. Thankfully, as reported by Insider Gaming, Take-Two responded with some “good news”; at least he seems to have been offered an exclusive playtest.

Rockstar also offered a die-hard fan to play Red Dead Redemption 2 in early 2018, just weeks before launch.

“CEO of Take-Two [Strauss Zelnick] reached out and we're just waiting to hear from the Rockstar team to discuss this further,” Armstrong said in a now-deleted update. “Thanks to everyone who has shown support, shared and reached out to your contacts for us.”

“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart”

Armstrong took down his LinkedIn thread when it started making the rounds (though you can still see a snippet of it via Google, and some were able to take pictures of the post), but before it was deleted, he shared one last update. “We spoke to them today and got great news. That's all I can say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

It's a touching story, even though everyone on social media is begging them to leak the game. Never change, GTA fans.
