Keep in mind, immediately after the delay, fans began to send out their frustrations, with many who said their hype had died.

As first shared by a GTA 6 fan on Twitter, the new date for the next post in the franchise, May 26, 2026, is also the anniversary of the funeral of Bonnie & Clyde -the notorious criminal couple from the 1900s, largely known for their bank robberies and other escapades.

Why is this important? Some believe and there is good evidence-that the story in GTA 6 will be Rockstar's own hold of the real Bonnie & Clyde. The first and only trailer suggested equally and helped add the existing theory.

According to Texas History Notebook, a blog on historical issues in Texas, Cyde's funeral services were held on May 25, 1934 at Sunset, with Bonnie who had her services the next day, May 26, early in the afternoon. A newspaper mowing from the era also confirms as much, with the essay that noted that 50,000 people came to see the bodies in the duo before they had private burial services.

In other words, this actually happened and is not a compound theory of gta fans a la the moon theory. Next year, May 26 will fall on a Tuesday, the day when Triple-A games have historically been released before Friday began to become more popular. Whether it is a friendly coincidence or consciously chosen by Rockstar remains to be seen, but it is certain to say that hype has returned.
