As it stands, the present Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Distribution event is the only way that coaches can get Shiny Koraidon in Pokemon Violetta and shiny miraidon in Pokemon ScarletSince the two legendary creatures are shiny locked normally. The event is currently hosted at various retailers worldwide, such as Gamestop and EB games in the US and Canada respectively. However, the shiny Koraidon and Miraidon event has been controversial in the United States, as Gamestop stores across the country quickly ended up on codes to give fans, with some who show up on eBay thanks to Scalpers.

Gamestop says code boundaries were introduced by Pokemon

After several rounds of negative feedback from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players over the shiny legendary distribution event tried to clear the air at the end. On social media, Gamestop claimed that each store received about 50 codes per store for the first distribution wave, with a second wave that began on October 4 which saw another 50 codes per store released. While special cards were distributed in the first wave, Gamestop used codes printed on receipts for the second round. In short, Gamestop stated that Pokemon Company was responsible for the code boundaries, despite other retailers outside the United States who did not impose any such restrictions. Gamestop said it would continue to work with TPCI to get more codes distributed to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players until the event end on October 15, although the codes will be limited to one per customer.

From this writing, Pokemon Company has not responded to Gamestop's message. The general answer to Gamestop's message was originally mixed. While some Pokemon Coaches questioned how many codes that Gamestop had in each store, other estimated the dealer's response to the ongoing controversy. In addition, Pokemon Fans urged TPCI to respond to Gamestop's claims and consider using online -mystery gift events as a way to prevent future scaling.
