Game with most craftable items

Crafting is a game mechanic that has been added to many different games in recent years, not just survival crafting. Some systems have been very simple, with only a few hundred items here and there for players to craft, while others are absolutely massive and take center stage in the game. From building complex factories to medieval weapons and even deep space environments, crafting has also come in lots of different flavors.

The focus here is on games that come with the most craftable items. Now it is quite difficult to measure precisely. The question of what is considered a craftable item is not always easy to define in each game, as there are variants and levels that further complicate matters, and multi-chain recipes, and full information on the exact numbers for each game here is not widely available. With that in mind, here are my best guesses at the approximate number of craftable items, ranked from lowest to highest.

No Man's Sky

Several hundred craftable items

Fixed No Man's Sky is at the bottom of the rankings, it is by no means a game with few craftable items. On the contrary, it is creating heaven for all spacefaring sci-fi lovers who love to explore alien planets.

Recipes and processes can get quite complicated as you continue to create all sorts of things from your own tech space bases, cool spaceships, cooking, crafting consumables and various upgrades for your exosuit, for example. And that's without going into refining, which is basically a bit like crafting but turns some of your resources into more, well, refined ones.

Valheim

About 300 or more craftable items

Let's leave the sci-fi setting for now and go back in time to the time of the Vikings. Valheim drops you into an increasingly dangerous Viking-themed open-world survival craft, where each biome you evolve into challenges you more than the last.

To survive and thrive against enemies and bosses, you'll need to build shelters, upgrade your gear, make potions, cook food, and, of course, craft tools so you can harvest and farm for the very resources required to craft in the first place. Some recipes are locked behind specific workstations, so you have to keep upgrading your base and discovering new resources a la Minecraft style to get every single one.

Vintage story

At least over 300 craftable items

Vintage story will tickle it Minecraft itching for any crafting enthusiast, but it adds several deep layers of survival and challenge to a game that feels very similar Minecraftbut isn't. Some items are made by buttoning, while others use a more traditional craft mesh.

Weapons must be crafted at an anvil using special tools such as pliers and a hammer, so players will naturally spend a lot of time gathering the right ingredients, foraging and farming to create more and more in their quest for survival. Definitely give this one a try Minecraft is getting a little too easy for you.

Minecraft

Over 500 craftable items

Being the ultimate open world sandbox survival craft, Minecraft probably has about 500 or more craftable items. Over the years, a lot more variety has been added, with different types of stone, brick and even wood. As you pick up and harvest new items in the game, you will automatically learn new crafting recipes found in your recipe book in your inventory.

Then you just make them on a craft bench. It's not the deepest system out there, but it's the most accessible, while being incredibly versatile. Also, you can always dive super deep into anything that is redstone or even modded Minecraft if the vanilla version just doesn't have enough stuff for you. My personal favorite? RLCraft or RLCraft Dregora. You'll have hours of grinding, challenging and crafting at your fingertips, mixed with some RPG elements.

Factory

Over 500 craftable items, possibly much more

As they say, the factory must grow, and that means that more and more craftsmen enter Factory. This is an ideal game for those who are technically minded and love to do complex things, automate their processes and value efficiency (or not, the choice is yours). The game easily has at least 500 crafted items, but that's a low, generous estimate.

With all the technology available as you evolve and build your massive factory, this number explodes pretty quickly. As in No Man's Skyyou also have the process of refining certain resources, which is also sort of considered part of crafting here for simplicity's sake. About redstone from Minecraft was just a start for you, this is the next crafting game you should try for the great possibilities it offers.

7 days to die

Well over 600 craftable items at least

600 is a pretty generous estimate for 7 days to diethe final amount is probably somewhere over 700 or 800, and that's mainly thanks to all the upgrades and item variants available later in the game. As in Vintage story and Valheimyou need specialized workstations to be able to craft certain items.

For example, if you plan to make some first aid kits, you'll either need to find a chemistry station or build one yourself with resources you've scavenged. The workstation will cover a lot of items on its own, but getting specialized stations will help you save on manufacturing costs and time. For those who enjoy zombie survival and want a deep crafting system mixed with base building as well, it's pretty much the perfect choice.

Ark: Survival Evolved

Over 700 craftable items

So, maybe zombies aren't your thing, and you'd rather roam around an exotic island full of dinosaurs, in which case ARK: Survival Evolved is more your cup of tea. It also has a pretty impressive range of craftable items, from everything you need to build a shelter to weapons, tools and even clothing.

ARK's recipes are usually behind Blueprints, which require no Engram points but take up inventory space, and Engrams, which are permanently unlocked recipes that require the use of Engram points. There are tons of these recipes, and you'll need thousands of Engram Points to fully unlock them all, including the DLC's stuff too, so you won't run out of things to do anytime soon in this game.

Conan exile

Possibly in the thousands with all the add-ons

Coming up against the really massive crafting games, Conan exile probably drops to thousands in number of items. All the usual crafting categories are here, as it is another survival crafting game, from weapons, shelter building items to armor and tools to harvest the things you need to continue crafting.

Discovery won't be enough for you to get all the recipes here. Instead, you have to level up and gain knowledge, and different items require a different workstation to craft at. Namely, weapons will need a blacksmith's bench, and potions will make you first make an alchemist's bench. Then, further down the line, you will upgrade these workstations to higher levels. It's quite a layered system.

Wurm online

Thousands of items

For the last two, it's hard to say exactly who stands between Wurm online and Terrariabut we begin with the former, which probably contains thousands of man-made objects. While some items require specific workstations to refine, such as the anvil when it comes to refining iron, most of the crafting is done quite simply on your crafting screen. This allows you to combine two items together and even queue up multiple items of the same type to craft in bulk.

But a word of warning, as each item is marked with a different percentage of your ability to craft them. Just because you know a recipe doesn't mean you'll actually succeed in crafting the item in question, and it will largely depend on how skilled you are, as well as how good your materials and tools are. If this intrigues you, be prepared for a lot of recipes from furniture to building items to tools, weapons, armor and other such things.

Terraria

Over 2000 craftable items

The second king of craftable items is without a doubt, Terraria. This charming 2D sandbox survival game with a heavy dose of RPG elements thrown in Minecraft comes with a pretty staggering number of recipes. Armor, weapons, and tools alone have many variations, ranging from wizards to Stardust armor. You have to acquire better tools, defeat certain bosses that are either found or summoned, and discover ores in your world to progress from one set to another.

And that only applies to gear. There is also furniture to design the perfect house for yourself and the odd NPCs, food, potions, building materials… Like many other games listed here, Terraria also benefits from various workstations such as the kiln, the sawmill, the loom, the casting station and so on. Once you activate the hard mode after a certain boss fight, the scope of the game expands to even more crafting possibilities.
