It's pretty rare to see Power Rangers stray from its 90s roots these days. Merch, games, movies, crossovers, even Lego – it's Mighty Morphin all the way down.
As a Zoomer who grew up during what I'd argue was the golden era of the show, which spanned Ninja Storm, SPD and the criminally underrated Jungle Fury, it's a shame to see some of the best teams get neglected in favor of catering to 30-year-old Millennial nostalgia, but thankfully, Fortnite today has it right.
This morning, Epic Games released an Item Shop teaser for all the new drops coming this week, revealing two Dino Thunder skins: Tommy and Trent.
Sure, they could be from the old Mighty Morphin sequel, and that's even more Tommy, but Dino Thunder is by far the best season in the show's extensive history (disagree? Take it up with Mesogog), and the black/gold ranger costumes are some of the best looking on the show. Each of them are available in the Item Shop right now for 1,500 V Bucks, or you can buy the package for 2,400 V Voltage.

It's a neat little bundle given the parallels between the two characters: Trent is a clear mirror to Tommy's beginnings as an evil Power Ranger, manipulated by the villains to destroy the rest of the team, and later overcoming their influence to become the hero he was always meant to be. And it's nice to see Hasbro finally embracing the rest of the series' history.
Back to the Future's iconic time-traveling DeLorean is also available in the Item Shop today.
But hopefully this is just the start of further collaborations with Hasbro that go beyond Mighty Morphin, like perhaps the red, blue and yellow rangers from Dino Thunder to round out the set. It would also be nice if today's kids could play as their favorite Power Rangers teams, not the ones from our childhood, although I'll gladly take my Dino Thunder nostalgia (and some Jungle Fury, if possible).
