Fortnite is launching its own Arenas Boxfights game mode on April 9, giving players an official version of a fan-favorite Creative island type. Saving the world was supposed to be the most important Fortnite game mode, but the plan derailed when the developers realized that Battle Royale was what really captured the attention of players. Then Epic Games shifted its focus almost entirely to Battle Royale, creating an interesting storyline, Battle Pass seasons full of cosmetics, and an ever-changing island.
Sometimes Epic Games released new limited time modes in the Fortniteusually with themed quests and even some cosmetic rewards, to keep players entertained. This grew to the point where it launched entirely new game modes in Fortnitesuch as Fortnite Festival, Fortnite Ballistic, Fortnite OG, Rocket Racing and LEGO Fortnite. Some of these supposedly permanent modes weren't as popular as others, which is why Epic Games announced that some Fortnite game modes will be vaulted soon.
Fortnite officially adds Boxfight game mode on April 9th
Although Rocket Racing, Ballistic and Fortnite Festival's Battle Stage will be removed soon, players have a new game mode called Arenas Boxfights to keep them entertained when the other game modes are gone. According to the announcement post made by the official Fortnite account on Twitter, Arenas Boxfights will go live on April 9, and it will consist of 1v1 and 2v2 matches in a 16-player, multi-round game. Whoever reaches 15 rounds wins first will be considered the winner of the match.
In addition to the official game modes and LTMs, there are thousands of creative maps in Fortnite created by content creators in the community. Box fights are among some of the most popular Fortnite Creative islands, as they allow players to test their racing skills, especially up close. Previously, there was a Close Quarters LTM that only featured close quarters weapons, forcing players to enter each other's personal space and fight face-to-face. This was especially intense in Battle Royale games with construction enabled, as it led to some serious construction battles.
According to the announcement, Arena's Boxfight mode will feature alternating weapons and items, a ranked mode, and maps made specifically for this mode. In addition to this, to encourage players to try this new game mode in FortniteEpic Games is giving away two cosmetic items for free as part of the upcoming Arenas Boxfights Quests. Players have the option to unlock the Builder's Crest backbling and the Cracked Blueprint spray to play the game mode and win a certain number of boxfights.
