Back in June, Remedy FBC released: Firebreak, a cooperative PVE first personal shooter in the larger control universe, who himself shares connections to Alan Wake. Listen, that's a lot, but the points remain: Remedy released his first multiplayer game.
From the beginning, things were rocky because the lack of content at launch had fans shared on its value. Things just went down from there, as the game was quickly in the double figures for the same time. Well, in the meantime since then things have only worsened.
Over at Steamdb, which tracks updates, player bills and more for games, FBC: Firebreak has fallen into individual numbers, with as little as six people who actively engage in the game.
Of course, Steamdb tells only part of the story, as the game was available to them with either an Xbox Game Pass subscription or to those with a Playstation Plus Sub. But it is still a rather worrying view, especially for a game that is supposed to be a live-service project, alias one that relies on active players.
In spite of all this, the cure still believes that it has something good in the hands
In a financial report released online, Remedy acknowledged that on the PC page of things, FBC: Firebreak disappointed. It also acknowledged that sales for the game were disappointing, and that much of its results have been a result of its presence on subscription services.
“Despite the rocky launch, we believe we have a solid game to build on,” read the report.
The studio believes that a major update planned for September will be able to generate more success. This update will also include increased marketing in the hope of driving additional interest in the game. “We are committed to continuing to work with FBC: FirebreakEngage in society and expand the game, ”the report concluded.
In the end, only time will show if that update will be enough to take things from six players to hundreds or thousands, but it is clearly cure that things are not dead yet.
