Although Kuja was originally portrayed as a villain, Kuja stopped being used as a tool for other abominable figures to arrive. He was one through created by Garland, who finally called him an incorrect creation and decided to create Zidane, which gave him the memories he needed to unlock the power of Trance.

This did not sit right with Kuja, who hated to be overlooked and eventually developed a deep hares towards the world and everything in it. If he had had a better childhood, it is possible that Kuja would have struggled to save Gaia instead of destroying it.

Eventually, she is freed from this brainwashing and even follows the party as they go to Esthar City. If she had somehow avoided Ultimecia's magic, she could have united the heroes and made them aware of their shared past long before the disclosure actually happens.
