August 21st, Final Fantasy 14 Players went to Steam to protest a new move from Square Enix, as the game got waves of negative reviews and lost their latest degree to mixed. The mass reviews came after the creator of a popular Final Fantasy 14 Mod called “Mare Synchronos” announced that it was suspended after the creator received a legal investigation from Square Enix.
In short, Mare Synchronos allowed participation Final Fantasy 14 Players at PC to share modified the player's character models and charges with their comrades for various role -playing games or social purposes. However, the use of Mare Synchronos and other player -created additions is against Square Enix's terms of use, which is described in the game's license agreement. In January 2025, Final Fantasy 14 Director and producer Naoki Yoshida personally treated the situation around the controversial Playerscope fashion, which was used to access the client side Accoun-Tid information and gives the mod operator access to the player's character information without content. Yoshida stated that Square Enix considered legal action against Playerscope and has since taken measures to prevent further vulnerabilities on the client side which made it possible to use in the first place.
Despite Final Fantasy 14S's position towards Mods has implemented functions previously handled via mods, including patch 7.3's chat bubbles. Only time will tell you what the fall will be from Square Enix actions against Mare Synchronos.
