Final Fantasy 14 Announces 2025 Christmas Event

With 2025 fast approaching its end, Final Fantasy 14 has officially revealed the return of its annual Christmas event, the Starlight Celebration festival. Players will be able to participate in a short film Final Fantasy 14 seasonal questline to acquire six new emotes as well as some sweet housing.

Although the year is almost over, Final Fantasy 14 still have some new arrivals before 2026 arrives. In December, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4 is coming, which will introduce the new MSQ, the end of the Arcadion Raid series, and the removal of most glamor restrictions. After that, the road to the story's next big expansion begins in earnest, with the first big reveals expected in April 2026 during Final Fantasy 14 Fan festival.

Beginning on December 17, 2025 at midnight PST, players will be able to participate in the 2025 version of the seasonal Christmas-themed event, Starlight Celebration. The event will close on December 31st at 6:59 PST, giving players two weeks to check out everything the event has to offer. Players wishing to participate must be at least level 15 and should head to Mih Khetto's Amphitheater in Old Gridania to start the quest. The quest starting NPC, Amh Garanjy, will be found at X:10.2 and Y:9.4 in that zone.

Final Fantasy 14's Christmas Treats for 2025

In addition to the usual wintry seasonal decorations and storyline to play through, players will be able to unlock six new potion-guzzling emotes added to the game. These are themes around Final Fantasy 14s starting cities and include Gridanian Sip, Gridanian Gulp, Ul'dahn Sip, Ul'dahn Gulp, Lominsan Sip and Lominsan Gulp. Judging from the illustrations, there will be an animation sequence for the “Sip” line of emotes and one for the “Gulp” emotes respectively, but each city variation will use a different seasonal mug. Currently, it is not clear if these will be identical or just similar to the existing teemotes in the game.

Similar to emotes, there will be two sets of decorative items available for Final Fantasy 14 player homes and apartments. These include Ul'dahn Kinderpunsch and Lominsan Kinderpunsch, which are tabletop items that can be used up to ten times to gain a 30 minute meal benefit. Specifically, the potions give Piety Bonus +4% (Max 10), VIT Bonus +5% (Max 12), Gear Durability Bonus +3 and EXP Bonus +3%. The second set of items is purely decorative, with a bundle of the Ul'dahn and Lominsan mugs respectively. Players who were active during Starlight Celebration 2024 may recognize these, as the Gridanian equivalent was part of the giveaway during this year's event.

Particularly festive players will be able to acquire a small selection of past Christmas-themed events from Starlight vendors. However, most previous seasonal items end up in the paid store after their respective events end. Those in the know might want to check the store when the event starts, as it usually has a sale period during this time where the majority of previous seasonal event goodies are discounted from their regular cost.

With the Starlight Celebration ending the year, players won't have to wait long until the next seasonal event. The first half of the year gets a lot of them, and players can usually expect monthly seasonal events until May. These include Heavensturn to celebrate the New Year, Valentione's Day in February, Little Ladies' Day in March, Hatching-tide for Easter in April and the Make it Rain Campaign Gold Saucer event in May. While the next major expansion for Final Fantasy 14 won't land until late 2026 or sometime in 2027, players should have plenty of regular activities to keep them busy until then.
