Famous legal advice YouTuber facing 25 years in jail

A popular YouTuber who specializes in legal matters has reportedly been arrested.

U.S. attorney Nick Rekieta faces 25 years in prison after being arrested Thursday along with his wife Kayla and another Internet personality.

Prosecutors on Friday filed charges against the Minnesota couple for second-degree drug possession, child endangerment and serious felony firearms charges.

According to arrest documents, police attempted to execute a search warrant on May 23 at Rekieta’s home and were met by a young girl at the door who would not let them inside.

After Rekieta refused to provide the door code, police used a battering ram to gain access and found the couple and four minors inside.

After searching the master bedroom and bathroom, authorities allegedly found a variety of drug paraphernalia, including three small baggies that tested positive for cocaine, eight green tablets that tested positive for ketamine, a digital scale and several other items that tested positive for positive for cocaine.

Police also found a handgun with several magazines and loose ammunition under the bed, a spent shell casing on the bedroom floor, and located additional firearms and ammunition in the garage.

Rekieta and his wife were taken into custody. He told authorities that he and his wife slept in the master bedroom, where police said they found most of the drug paraphernalia.

The couple allegedly refused to answer questions about cocaine.

Before the arrest, some of the YouTuber’s fans had expressed concern about his health earlier this week after a clip of him appearing to fall asleep during a live stream was released.

Police noted that Rekieta had several wounds on his arms when he was arrested, describing them as sores commonly associated with substance users.

Rekieta, a law firm owner, has grown in popularity during the pandemic as she has covered high-profile cases including Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial and Johnny Depp’s lawsuit against Amber Heard.

He has more than 150,000 followers on X, formerly Twitter, and nearly 450,000 subscribers on YouTube.

The couple appeared in court on Friday. A recent post by Rekieta suggests that he has been released on bail.

“So, hey, obviously a lot happened,” Rekieta wrote in a statement.

“I’m sorry (for legal purposes it must be reiterated that the apologies concern the disservice, and are in no way linked to any legal proceedings).

“That said, keep in mind that no one has the full story or the full picture of anything. It is possible that no one ever will.

“None of what is reported is accurate and it is not their fault.

“I saw so many messages of support. Thank you for this.

“I’ll still do some things. I’m at home now. Stay tuned for show announcements and more here on Locals.

Nick Rekieta has denied any wrongdoing.
