Fallout Season 2 is Prime Video's sixth most-watched show

I don't know about you, but every time I open social media and see the reactions to a new Fallout episode, it's always the same handful of New Vegas fans (please don't throw eggs at me – I'm one) complaining that Mojave, which was already on the verge of collapse 15 years ago, has collapsed. Still, even with all the backlash, Season 2 is one of Prime Video's most-watched shows to date.

As reported by Deadline, with two episodes remaining, Fallout Season 2 is the sixth most-watched season in Prime Video history. And despite the vocal outrage of some sects of the fan base, it has an even higher overall Rotten Tomatoes score than the first season, at 97 percent on the Tomatometer and 96 percent on the Popcornmeter.

“We are thrilled with the reception of Fallout S2 from audiences and critics worldwide,” Peter Friedlander, head of global TV at Amazon MGM Studios, told Deadline. “More than half of this season's audience so far has come from outside the United States, and we look forward to even more viewers discovering the show as we continue to release new episodes in the coming weeks.”

Although Amazon hasn't revealed viewership numbers yet, we do know that Fallout Season 2 is right behind both seasons of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Reacher Seasons 2 and 3, and the first season of Fallout, which garnered 65 million viewers in its first two weeks.

No, Fallout Season 2 Isn't A Dud

Despite the show's success, there is a misconception doing the rounds that Season 2 is an underperformer compared to its predecessor. The smoking gun? Season 1 pulled in 2.9 billion minutes of combined viewing in its first week, while Season 2 only amassed 794 million minutes in the same time. It's a completely unfair comparison though, as all of Season 1 was released on Prime Video at once, while Season 2 rolls out weekly.

That means Season 2 had 1/8th of the episodes that its predecessor did, and yet with one episode, it pulled in nearly a quarter of the total minutes that Season 1 did. It is incredibly impressive. Suffice to say, Fallout continues to be a huge hit for Amazon, and it's no surprise that the team is already looking forward to the third season.
