Expedition 33 tops HowLongToBeat's most “finished” playlist

As if Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hasn't taken home enough awards this season, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards, there's one more achievement lined up for the Sandfall Interactive RPG – the “Most Completed” game of 2025.

In a recent post shared on social media, HowLongToBeat, the popular website used to track and log playthroughs, among other highlights, listed this year's “Most Completed” titles, with Expedition 33 earning the top spot.

In order, the games are:

  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

  2. Hollow Knight: Silk Song

  3. Donkey Kong Banana

  4. Doom: The Dark Ages

  5. Dispatch

  6. Monster Hunter Wilds

  7. Mario Kart World

  8. Silent Hill b

  9. South of midnight

  10. Hades 2

On the HowLongToBeat website, a whopping 8,000 people have logged in as having “Beat” Expedition 33, with another approximately 1,100 players actively playing the game.

Of course, so much of this list is based on players' willingness to A) have an account with HowLongToBeat and B) actively log their playtime and status. Still, that so many people would do all that says a lot about what kind of game Expedition 33 is.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Photo mode

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's photo mode might be the best I've ever seen

Sandfall Interactive has added an almost unlimited photo mode to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

On a separate note, it's pretty wild to see a game as punishing as Silksong at number 2. Dispatch releasing its final episode in mid-November and the title as a whole finishing at number 5 is also a testament to its popularity.

The lists don't stop there though, as HowLongToBeat has also categorized the top games that people are 'retiring' or dropping.

Delta Force's campaign may have been too much for players to handle

In a separate post on social media, HowLongToBeat revealed its top 10 most “retired” games, topped at No. 1 by Persona 5: The Phantom X, the free-to-play spin-off title that drew ire from fans for alleged favoritism towards the game's Asian servers.

The full list is as follows:

  1. Persona 5: The Phantom X

  2. Delta Force

  3. Where winds meet

  4. Hello Kitty Island Adventure

  5. inZOI

  6. Eternal strings

  7. Blue Prince

  8. Avowed

  9. Nuclear fallout

  10. The Precinct

Delta Force being number 2 makes a lot of sense when you consider how notoriously difficult the campaign was, along with stiff competition in the shooter genre, including the long-awaited revival of Battlefield that likely drove away players.

All in all, it's a pretty neat way to help categorize games in 2025. Surely Grand Theft Auto 6 has to be the most “complete” game in 2026, right?
