Expedition 33 Cast thanks fans and Charlie Cox for their support

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently riding a victory lap at the moment, celebrating its incredible 12 different nominations at The Game Awards, as well as its huge haul at the Golden Joysticks. Among these TGA nominations, Gustave actor Charlie Cox managed to pick up one for Best Performance, along with Verso and Maelle actors Ben Starr and Jennifer English.

Given that the role of Gustave has been one of Cox's only video game roles to date, he's understandably a bit more humble about it all, and recently warmed the hearts of every Clair Obscur fan on the planet by claiming that Gustave's motion capture actor – Maxence Cazorla – probably deserves the nomination more than he does. Cox also claimed that Gustave's performance in the game was “up to him” and that his voice was “just part of that process.” Very useful stuff.

Understandably, being name-dropped by Daredevil sent many eyes towards Cazorla, who seems to have been bombarded with appreciation ever since Cox said he was more deserving of the nomination than him. At least that's what Cazorla himself seems to be suggesting, as he recently reached out to Clair Obscur fans on Twitter to thank them for their love and support.

Charlie Cox says he's getting a console just to play Clair: Obscur Expedition 33 After High Praise

Apparently he hasn't played a game since Super Mario 64.

In his tweet, Cazorla said he was “truly grateful” for Cox's words, which he thought were “incredibly generous”. He then keeps things nice and healthy by emphasizing that “bringing Gustave to life was a team effort” and that he was “honored to have played [his] take part in it.” It's a lovely little bundle of compliments, and I suppose proof that the team at Sandfall are pretty close.

That said, we definitely wouldn't have had such an incredible game without the work and talent of Cazorla, who not only did the mocap movement for Gustave, but Verso and Renoir as well. He's also the voice of Esquie, so it's pretty clear he's a talented individual, and it's nice to see someone as high profile as Charlie Cox making sure he gets his due.
