Everything you need to know about each map in Marathon

Drive in after you get past the tutorial Marathon and start getting into your first real game, you'll quickly notice that the map screen has a total of three maps, with one of them having two versions. All three of these maps are completely different, and they also offer different environments and vibes.

You can constantly be dotted on one of these maps due to many open areas, while another is almost impossible to dot on due to closed blocks. That's why it's important to know what each map offers because your entire build depends on it, and you have to play on all maps if you want to finish certain contracts.

How to unlock each map

While three maps might be a bit much for an Extraction Shooter game, one good thing about Marathon is that most of its maps are already available when you start the game. When you enter your first lobby, the following maps will be unlocked: Perimeter (Novice), Perimeter and Dire Marsh.

The difference between the beginner perimeter and the normal one is the number of players that spawn, which lets you ease into the game because the robots can already be a challenge to manage.

The beginner perimeter walks away after the first two real runsno matter what map you do them on.

In addition to these, there is also an outpost map that is initially locked. To unlock this map, you must reach level 12 in a given season, and your current level can be seen at the top left when you are on the home screen. To level up quickly, it is highly recommended to play in trio lobbies even if you have to fill it with random players because you will get much more EXP.

Circumference

Overflow and North Relay are the two best loot locations on this map, but you can also raid the Hauler if you're new to the game as it provides a lot more cover.

Dire Marsh

Fore Dire Marsh you will find most change in the complex and maintenance areaalthough the former can be a bit difficult to navigate at first.

Outpost

Finally, if you play on the Outpost map, you'll find the most loot under the Orientation and Airport sections.

Map

Tip

Circumference

This is a good map for beginners as most of the large areas are separated and you would be able to easily identify if a player gets close to you. It does have one though giant wall separating its northern and southern sides.

The first step to becoming good at this map is to remember exactly where you can go in and out of this wallas it will help you a lot in battle.

Dire Marsh

While this map is still open, most of the buildings in it are connected, making it much easier to other people to sneak up on you.

Also, the anomaly area in the middle making it quite difficult to navigate through that areaso it is recommended to avoid it if you can.

Outpost

Finally, Outpost is your go-to map if you want close PvP because you will find lots of people squatting around buildingswaiting for you to show up.

This map also has a dangerous condition that forces you to stay inside, making it quite a busy mapand you should only go for it when you have experience with the game.
