Everything you can do with the motorcycle in Code Vein 2

When you have an open world game, you need some kind of way to fast travel through it. Just going everywhere with no other options would get tiresome after a while, especially if the map is particularly large.

In many games you get cars. Sometimes horses. Maybe even a boat or an airplane in the more modern environments. IN Code Vein 2it was decided that the mode of transportation most suitable for a vampire was, of course, a motorcycle.

When will you receive the motorcycle?

The player with his handle on the handlebars of the motorcycle in code 2.

When you travel through the past with Noah for the first time, you have to earn your keep, so Valentin sends you out on a few errands. One of these just happens to be finding a special form to fix an old but otherwise technically advanced motorcycle. You can already see where this is going.

After completing this mission, the workers see to you that they will inform you as soon as the bike is repaired, even if you have long since returned to the present. Instead, you bear the fruits of their labor in the current era instead.

When the bridge to MagMell is repaired and you approach it, you'll get the motorcycle then and there, in amazing condition considering it's been lying dormant for 100 years. From now on, the bike is yours to use without restriction.

The bike cannot be used in dungeons and many interiorsbut it can be called almost everywhere else.

Motorcycle controls

The motorcycle flies over water in the sunken city in Code Vein 2.

Once you have summoned the motorcycle, the controls for it appear on the side of the screen. Assuming you have no inputs, at least. They'll become muscle memory after a while, but here's a quick list of them all.

  • Control – Nice and simple, just determines your direction left and right. Uses Left Stick.
  • Strangle – Your acceleration. How hard you press the trigger determines how fast you go. This is on RT/R2.
  • Brake – Slows down quickly. Also functions as a reverse when stationary. If you brake while turning, you'll perform a fairly satisfying drift instead. This is on LT/L2.
  • Shift weight – When riding regularly, shifting your weight back allows you to perform a wheelie, while shifting forward does nothing. In flight, shifting your weight backward slows your descent and allows you to glide further, while shifting forward causes you to descend quickly. Operated by pushing the left stick forward or backward.
  • Jump / Glide – Allows you to make a small jump to overcome obstacles and reach higher areas. If you press it while you're already in the air, you'll start gliding. Triggered with the A / Cross button.
  • Jump off – Allows you to jump off the motorcycle while maintaining your speed. You can use mid-air attacks from this position. Activated with the B / Circle button.
  • Sit down – A common way to get off the bike. Can only be performed stationary. Uses the same button combination as calling the bike.
  • Change camera view – While you have manual control over the camera, you can change the angle it focuses on for a more cinematic experience. Triggered with the X / Square button.

For the most part, everything you do with the bike is pretty self-explanatory sliding is a bit more complex. It doesn't have many limitations to its use, so it can be activated almost anywhere you can get significant airtime, and allows you to descend massive cliffs and valleys that you probably would otherwise.

You can only slide for a limited timeindicated by the white bar that appears as you slide. Be very careful when shifting your weight because even small adjustments can dramatically change your trajectory. And you still jump off the bike mid-flight, so feel free to dismount if you're going to overshoot your landing.

Uses the motorcycle in exploration

The player who drives into the Sunken City on the motorcycle in Code vein 2.

The motorcycle is your primary means of transportation in the gameand is much faster than just running around the place, especially since it can fit into even tighter areas that you might not expect.

The bike maintains momentum as it jumps and slidesso it also allows you to reach places you wouldn't be able to on foot. The bike also has an incredibly bright and wide headlight, making it a great tool for illuminating your surroundings while exploring at night.

The bike has its own HP baralthough honestly it's not something you need to worry too much about. Its damage will fully heal after a few seconds while riding. But if you dismount and summon it again, it will be fully healed immediately.

In fact, even if the bike is completely destroyed, no cooldown occurs on calling it again. It just comes in, fully repaired at no charge. That's strangely generous.

As said, if you hit obstacles like trees while flying, you will take damageand you can't just dismount to heal here. So be careful when flying or you could end up dead pretty quickly.

Uses the motorcycle in battle

The player and Lou look at the motorcycle from the side in Code Vein 2.

Now, the bike isn't an intentional tool in combat, though it does have a surprising amount of utility if you know what you're doing. When riding, you can just crash into enemies and knock them down. Even on bigger enemies, you'll phase through them and deal some damage instead of getting knocked out.

However, you can use this as an introduction to combat as well. When you jump off the bike, it doesn't disappear immediately. Instead, it moves forward for a second and retains all of its physical properties. This means that if you set it up, you can jump off and send it into enemies to knock them down, giving you precious time to set up attacks while they're vulnerable.

And if the meeting turns sour and you need to get away, you can again just summon the bike. You retain most of your momentum while summoning the bike, so you can still make a quick escape. You can also heal while on the bikemaking it an effective tool just to give yourself some distance and a safe way to heal.
